Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

The complaint is Verizon doesn't even have the phone yet.

Verizon VoLTE

So far I really like the Nexus 6 on Verizon (bought through Moto). I had to go back to using google voice mail since Verizon doesn't have their visual voicemail app on the Play Store, no big deal. My question is, should I ever expect to see voice over LTE on my phone since it's not officially through Verizon? I'm assuming that Verizon will only update phones sold through them when they bring it to the Nexus 6. I can't live in the dark ages and have to choose between data or voice. Any thoughts?

And it seems like it's for good reason. What you would want:

1. A device to show off to people that was buggy and didn't work 100% and you may possibly have to swap or return

or

2. A phone that might have taken longer to get but is fully functional and as bug free as it could get

I think it's a no-brainer

I would like to know this as well.

Re: Verizon VoLTE

There is only 1 model of Nexus 6 being sold in the US. If Verizon approves the device for VoLTE and an update is sent, it will apply to all devices, not just the ones they sell.

I cut my micro sim from my Note 2 down in less than five minutes, and stuck it in my Sprint store purchased Nexus. Works great after a phone call to Verizon because the MEID number on the phone wasn't recognized by the website.

Sure we want it bug free but at this point I just want SOME information. Give me a range or it will be ready after xx/xx/2014. Honestly if they just released SOME information I could deal with it better. To be honest I am seriously considering just getting a Droid Turbo and not waiting.

I plan on waiting until Black Friday and if nothing is announced by then I will take advantage of whatever sales are going on for the Droid Turbo or Note 4 and just get one of them. If the Nexus 6 comes out at Verizon within the return period and I like the in hand feel I will return and get the Nexus and eat the restocking fee (if I can avoid it I will) and return the accessories (which I understand will hurt the sales person's numbers but I gotta do what I gotta do).

No, I definitely agree. The lack of info is frustrating and perplexing. We should hopefully hear something sometime soon.... I mean, we have to, right?.... lol

Unfortunately, that is exactly what Verizon is hoping you do...

As long as I know Verizon is going to eventually carry the phone, I will wait fir it as coming from the Note 2 the Note 4 is not really much of an upgrade for me anyway...

I hope you're right about that.

But isn't the voice over LTE from Verizon bundled with their advanced calling feature built into the dialer? If that's the case then it won't be pushed to all Nexus 6 devices, right? AT&T is able to push their bloatware to their devices only but I'm not sure if this is SIM card initiated or they can push it only devices their network.

I understand you willing to wait but I am rocking an OG Droid since September, when I broke my Galaxy S3. I really NEED a new phone!

Got my N6 yesterday and no problems using the SIM from my Maxx.

Thanks. So, can you go back now to them and get a monthly discount because your doing a BYOD to them and using it? I'm wondering if I do this from my Moto X, and I'm on the 10GB plan with my wife, can I now get a $25 discount on the $40 smartphone "charge"?

Actually I can't, my line is still on a contract until next September. I'm not eligible for the line access discount.

Ahh gotcha, thanks. Do you know if you just signed up with them on a contract, don't you have 14 days to change your mind/plan? I'm wondering if I can still change to a non-contract plan if I use my Nexus 6 with them?

I'm pretty sure you could do that as a BYOD plan but I've read that you will have to go thru some hoops to get the N6 activated. You will just need to find a knowledgeable rep to help you.

It is more likely that they want you to buy a droid and they are trying to make more than just ring tones non-removable on the phone. They have to one up At&t on the bloat.
At the end of the day it is information I want. I am fixing to buy a phone next month. I don't want to buy the phone out right I get reimbursed my cell phone bill but not for the phone. The other thing is storage, if they don't offer the 64GB I may not want it either. That is the biggest advantage I see the Note 4 has. I am on a Note 2 now and have 2 batteries and they both suck. So it is definitely time for a new phone.

Re: Verizon VoLTE

I'm assuming that it'll be pushed the same way that the planned T-Mobile wifi calling update will be pushed.
Not that I'm entirely sure how that will happen.

So far the only thing that will punish my Turbo's battery is listening to Tune-In Radio pro. I spend a few hours streaming items through Tune-In and my battery suffers. However I can listen to music from Google Play (through a Bluetooth headset) while also receiving notifications on my watch and I'll have more then 60% left after a 10 hour day. With only a few hours of Tune-In near the end of the day I will come home with 20% or less battery left.
If I'm not listening to music or streaming something I'll have so much battery power left it doesn't even seem worth charging the phone after one day.
