Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

I'm told every N6 not purchased from Verizon will ALWAYS appear as a Non Verizon device. Will work with no problems, but will never be a recognized device. Despite now being carried by Verizon those not purchased from Verizon will never have their device # in Verizon's data base.
Not sure I see why that would be the case when Moto X's purchased directly from Motorola were recognized.

Who knows?
My N6 came from Google.
Just relaying what Verizon rep said to me.
He elaborated that only N6's built for Verizon would they have the device #'s for.

I have tried since Thursday to get my Nexus 6 put on Verizon. I have gone through tech support, corporate stores and non corporate stores. No one could get my phone activated. I do not have access to anyone with a Verizon device that has a nano Sim. Finally someone at cellular sales said to call and tell them you wanted to close your account. 30 minutes later my phone was working.

I just tried the visual voicemail app and it says my device is not compatible. How did you guys get it to work?

I found my Moto N6 wasn't alerting me to regular VM's. After a couple of weeks I figured something was wrong, and checked my mailbox. There were 20 messages, and I never was alerted to any of them. Probably has to do with the "non-recognized" status of my phone.

Never used VVM, but found YouMail in the app store. It is free, works perfectly, and if you need voice to text it's available for a fee. Problem solved, and I'll never go back......

The Nexus 6 on vzw.com is a preorder. It doesn't ship until the 18th.

They are apparently shipping some a little early, I got a shipped notification this morning, and I have tracking info showing it moving (left Memphis this afternoon.) I am on a business plan though, so it may be different for people on personal accounts.

I got the same thing this morning - personal account! Supposed to be at my house on Wednesday - just an FYI.

And it has arrived! Came in at about 9:30 this morning. I can finally retire my old Galaxy Nexus, which has served me well.

The voicemail option in Google Voice is not supported by Verizon. However, for reasons I can't explain I still get SMS transcripts of voicemail messages, and this may be because I had GV linked to my number when I was on Sprint. Another thing to consider is that Google seems to be pushing more services into Hangouts at the expense of GV, which I suspect will get the axe as some point in the future.

I'm going to try the YouMail app highlighted in one of the previous comments.

That's not quite the same situation. Only the Verizon Moto X would work on Verizon, but yes it could be purchased directly from Motorola. It was still Verizon's "special" version though. It's different than AT&T, Sprint, and the Pure Moto X. The Nexus 6 is one and the same device.

I got my N6 from Verizon today. I'm happy to have it, but the excitement has died down a lot since this phone was announced last year.

Hype doesn't matter ... What matters is what you said right here....

"I'm happy to have it"

That is all that matters ^_^.

I was told by Verizon's tech support that the Google Play Nexus 6 could not be guaranteed to work with Verizon services, including VM, VoLTE, and Advanced Calling 1.0. I spent an hour on the phone with *611 yesterday trying to get simultaneous voice/data working (after trying the published methods on this an other forums with no luck).

Perhaps it's time to take my Nexus 6 along with my other 2 lines to AT&T or an MVNO who doesn't have silly technology restrictions.

Is there any Verizon bloatware installed? Also, what version of Lollipop? Is is the newest version of Lollipop (5.1) installed on the Nexus 6? Thinking seriously about picking one up tonight after work.

It comes with 5.1 out of the box. Only Verizon apps installed are My Verizon and Visual Voice mail.

They are supported you just have to punch in some numbers to get that activated correctly on Verizon. I can't find the post right now but I'm sure I've seen it. XDA maybe

So with the 5.1 update, would we have to wait for Google to push the OTA (not the one to be side loaded) update to the phones bought through the Play Store and Motorola? If this is the case which update do we get the D build or the Verizon E Build? Did any receive the OTA update yet?

Thanks for any replies.

I know that anyone can use the E build, but the E build has tweaked radio for Verizon. I'm still waiting for the ota for the Nexus 6 I bought from the Google play store. Its getting a little confusing with all the different builds that are being released.
