Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

I just listened to Android Police podcast and they stated a rumor of the Nexus 6 coming to Verizon next year.
I know is just a rumor but I sure hope its not true and do not see how Verizon would be willing to lose all those potential sales.
What is your thoughts on this. I am willing to wait another month for the Nexus 6 but I cannot wait until next year.
Anyone know anything about these rumors?
Cheers!

Re: Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

I wouldn't be surprised considering it's Verizon were talking about. But we're just going to have to wait and see to know for sure.

Google Nexus 6 What if Verizon...?

So I've been reading from forum members and tech articles alike that the Nexus 6 will be two different models (U.S. version that works on any network, GSM or CDMA, & International) and it's been confirmed from Google/Motorola that there will be a 32 and 64 GB option.

If Verizon were to, say, only offer the 32 GB version to its customers, would that deter a lot of people from buying the phone?

I, for one, am hoping they do offer both sizes, but I've been hoping for a 64 GB Note 2/3/4 the last couple of years from them as well with none released. It didn't stop me from purchasing them, but there was a SD card slot to compensate.

Thoughts?

Re: Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

That would suck, for sure, if it's not available on Verizon until next year. That said, aren't there rumors that the one model for the US will work with all carriers? If that's the case, couldn't you just order from the Play Store, plug in your current SIM card and be fine?

In theory yes... The Nexus 7, 2013 LTE was Verizon ready and people bought from the play store and it was a nightmare to get activated....

That's the thing. I haven't read anywhere where it's confirmed that the US version will be one phone. It's been speculated because I think the FCC documents showed a phone with multiple antenna for either networks.

Re: What if Verizon...?

Google has said there is only 2 SKUs 1 for American which includes the 5 carriers and one for the international market. Now if Verizon activated play store devices or you have to go through Verizon and get one with an imei already in their system remains to be seen

It us confirmed on this Goggle link that shows the North American version ( hit blue arrow in Specs) with a picture of the phone at the bottom with icons from T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular and Sprint Nexus 6 – Google

Re: What if Verizon...?

I don't use my phone enough to fill up 32 GB let alone 64. I don't see this being a problem at all.

Nice. Thanks for that link and info. Guess I'll be pre-ordering on the 29th.

Re: Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

I plan on getting this phone from the play store anyway. This should be as simple as putting my current sim card in the nexus and calling it a day. At least it better be that way. If not then Verizon will have some explaining to do.

Verizon doesn't work by just putting in your SIM card. You're thinking about proper carriers.

Re: Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

It would definitely blow if you're on Verizon and had to wait until next year especially if you were planning on getting the phone on contract or the Edge program. If you are buying full price then it doesn't matter. I do remember it being an issue last year with Sprint and the Nexus 5 32 gb version not having a SKU in Sprint's system. That was a cluster f*ck...hopefully this will go smoothly on all the carriers like the iPhone does.

It was a pain but not horribly bad....... Day one they didn't know what to do..... Day two you had to call technical support and they had to submit your ESN/IMEI number into the system and that took 24 hours and then you got activated....

Oh and you needed a SIM to get LTE... without the SIM card you could get 3G and call service just not LTE.. I read where some people had issues getting a SIM from their local Sprint store.. Mine had plenty and that wasn't an issue at all...

From XDA forum

I'm pretty sure they clarified it was a joke in reference to Verizon's handling of the Galaxy Nexus somewhere on the website, I think I saw it in one of the comment sections.

Re: Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

I am afraid when it comes to Verizon even the most outlandish rumors can be true!!

I can actually see them delaying the Nexus so they can push their Droid Turbo during holiday sales season.

Re: Nexus 6 Verizon Release Date Rumors

This is their first nexus device in a long time, I would hardly doubt that they would want to miss out in the sales that it could bring. Grated I could see them advertising more for the turbo than the 6, but I think it would be quite foolish for them to not take advantage of both during the holiday season. Either way I really hope it launches at the same time as everyone else because I'll be buying mine from the actual store since Google at the moment doesn't have an insurance plan. If they did I would just buy through the play store.
