Maybe. I dunno. I've talked to a few closer friends who've been on different carriers in the past, and they tend to all say that they've had the best experience with service on Verizon.

Either way, that still doesn't really solve my ETF problem, anyway, so...

I had a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon and it was very much a Nexus in my mind.

Thank you. I had the GNex on verizon on day 1, and these revisionist historians talking about how "horrible" the experience was or how it was just "another verizon phone" are ridiculous.

And I still have it on Verizon.

I had the Galaxy Nexus on day 1 as well and as I would not call the experience "horrible" it certainly was not ideal. I recall waiting months after important updates were released by google to receive them from Verizon. I am definitely pulling the trigger on on the Nexus 6 when my contract is up on November 29th and as Verizon typically gives holiday shoppers until January 15th to return I have six weeks to try it out...

Ya, I mean remember Google refused to give another Nexus to Verizon previously, so Verizon I am assuming would have to give in to Google to get this one.

I remember reading somewhere that Google threatened to pull Motorola from VZW, and we all know that the Droid line is all Moto, now, and VZW's biggest sellers.

With GSM, you can buy the phone anywhere, as long as its unlocked, pop a valid SIM in, and you're done.

With CDMA, the carrier can block activation based on the IMEI. That's why even with Play Store Nexus 5, you had to call into Sprint to have them activate the phone. So I think this is one way Verizon can control which phones they'll allow, even though its the same model. This is because CDMA has proprietary code which is controlled by individual carriers.

You also have to take into account 99% of the issues with the galaxy nexus were samsung related and do not pertain to moto (poor radios which caused awful battery life, 1st gen lte radios, etc) Hopefully and with how well moto has been doing I do not think it will have near the issues the galaxy nexus had. Not to mention with 1 version for all the US carriers I wonder if google some how used that as a bargaining chip to hopefully get updates out faster.

What happened with the Galaxy Nexus is NOT going to happen with this Nexus 6. Motorola/Verizon has killed it with the newer Droid models and that's enough proof for me that they will not screw this up. I'm sick of people bringing up The Galaxy Nexus, So much has changed since then. Let's move on now...

Wow people hating on Verizon because of the Galaxy Nexus is just funny. The resent me there is worse then a fight with your wife.

Here's the truth on things though. Verizon does have the most consistent network coast to coast. There are cities that AT&T may have better, but if you are on a call driving out of a city you are less likely to drop on Verizon then AT&T. There are cities that are so bad with AT&T that if you basically look at a wall of a skyscraper your signal is gone.

The one last thing worth mentioning is that if the Nexus 6 is as bad as people claim the Nexus 5 was it's oth Google, the OEM, and the Carriers fault. Period. Both Microsoft and Apple have more favorable agreements with carriers then most Android OEM's. This tells me that it's not exclusively on the carrier, the OEM's or possibly even Google aren't willing to do the same things.

Android is a really fantastic OS. The Nexus hardware is truly the gold standard of Android hardware. I hope everyone from MetroPCS all the way up to Verizon gets the hardware in unaltered shape. If they don't, the fault is squarely on Motorola and Google for not doing what it takes.

Talked to a Verizon rep today and he did confirm that Google Play purchased Nexus 6 phones will be activated if brought in. Not sure if they will be sold in stores.

I was a day one customer as well and used mine until February of this year. I also had a Nexus 4 concurrently on T-Mobile and a Nexus 5 on T-Mobile.

The Galaxy Nexus seemed to become progressively worse with each update. Verizon would like nothing more than to see a 2-3yr old phone upgraded and it's pretty obvious what happened.

When February of this year rolled around and I couldn't take it anymore I switched my number from Verizon to AT&T and popped the sim into the Nexus 5. Trust me, there are oceans of difference.

True, but the "full price" aspect of the Nexus 6 smacks of the kind of appeasement Verizon would need to make something like this (4-carrier freedom) a reality.

Heck, we're fighting over whether or not contracts make sense (and we're in the Nexus forum where contracts are baaaaad) so the high price is clearly bolstering the contract subsidized model regardless! Looks like more than enough people will just snuggle up to the carrier teet for some more locked-in goodness.

I hate when everyone compairs this to the gnex but there were 2 or 3 things up with that release. They wanted to push the Droid RAZR, they couldn't get back up assistant to play nice with the stock software or they were trying to get the radios improved and delayed the release. Either way I see it happening again. It's the way the business is. No way they will put it up again their exclusive Droid. I hope I'm wrong tho

Verizon once was slow with updates. But I will say it again. The Galaxy S5 got 4.4.4 on Verizon first. The Droid line and HTC M8 and M7 got it quickly along with the Moto X. Also, yes Verizon is getting the Nexus 6, and most likely the Nexus 9.

A lot of VZW hating going on in this thread. First Verizon is the best in there industry. So, wether or not you love 'em or hate 'em that is fact. Another fact is they have well over 90 million customers and are number one in customer satisfaction for many years running. The beauty about living in the good ole USA is we have choice. If you do not like Verizon because of whatever experience you had with them in the past fine, switch to the carrier of your choice and be happy with them.

On-contract AT&T/Verizon Nexus 6 will come with bloatware?

And here's why I think this...

Currently, AT&T sells the 2nd generation Moto X (the non Pure Edition phone) for $99 on contract. But, on their store web page it markets itself very interestingly/devilishly:

Did you catch that? Yes, folks, this is what they are going to do with the Nexus 6 as well. If they can just throw around the label "Pure Android Experience", that means they think we are stupid and they will go ahead and put the pre-loaded (non-deletable) bloatware, locked bootloader, carrier start up splash screen, etc.

They will most likely have a Nexus 6 Pure Edition that sells only on the Google Play store for $624529789498249824

The title of "Nexus" would no longer mean anything.
