Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Same ole thing that happened with the N7 LTE. Had it on VZW way before they had it up for sale and it worked fine. When they started selling them then the N7 showed up on my account.

I threw the Sim from my Droid Turbo into my N6 this morning and I've been getting better service on the N6 then my Droid Turbo. So happy with this phone and enjoying the fact that I have a REAL NEXUS on my Verizon Account!!

Is there any reason to be concerned about their noting a non-Verizon device and using that as an excuse to void an unlimited data plan?

Verizon didn't have a true Nexus last year and I was getting tired of my old Galaxy Nexus.

I wanted a new device and used the Nexus 7 as my primary phone on Verizon---lots of VOIP calling--for 9 months straight, using my grandfathered Unlimited data plan. 2 or 3 of those months were well before it was a CERTIFIED DEVICE.

I never had any negative repercussions from Verizon and still have my Unlimited plan.

Well I have both right now. I wouldn't give the nexus up if you paid me. I am going to sell the turbo today. Once you go 6" screen with pure google speed and smoothness forget it.

Well for starters the Turbo will only work on VZW and will come loaded with bloat and VZW through and through including updates. If none of that bothers you then it is a great phone and smaller form factor.....but when you finally get tired of VZW and leave you will need to fork out money for a new phone. With the Nexus 6 you get freedom to move to any network you want and will get updates directly from Google.

When the turbo gets lollipop will you be able to remove bloat like on the N6 or are you stuck with it?
Depending on this answer then I have to ask a deeper question, how hard will it be to remove a skin in lollipop? A Note 4 without TW would be awesome.

My primary issue is going to be battery life. The turbo charger isn't the answer, because I don't want to have to find an outlet in the first place.

So far, the folks posting on their battery are all over the map. One guy got 3 hours of screen time to empty. Another got 4 hours with 40% left. It seems a lot has to do with strength of signal.

If you track the Turbo battery discussion, not everyone's done as well as you'd think (even allowing for the propogandist 48 hour stuff). Which is why I am holding out hope the N6 will be good enough. Because once you see the big screen, the Turbo seems silly.

I don't need the N6 to match the Turbo, but I'm hoping it'll get up there into the 5 hr screen on range. Otherwise, I'll still have to take my tablet when travelling. And if I have to do that, I might as well stay with the smaller phone in the first place.

Lollipop allows deletion of bloat.

As for TW, I'm interested in that as well. I've always used a custom launcher, and it seems to me that eliminates dealing with a manufacturer's interface. Is that all it takes? Or do you have to root the phone and go to a full-on custom ROM?

This is where I find my self to a large degree. Honestly, the Turbo will give me everything I want -- but the size of the N6 is a draw (I think). Since I believe the Turbo will get quick updates, the Lollipop piece of the equation is smaller for me, though a nice to have for sure.

In the end, if I like the size once I get to hold one, and the battery will last me a full day -- I am in.

I love Verizon. There I said it. I know it is not popular, but it is out there now.

They have excellent coverage where I live and everywhere I travel. I have always gotten excellent customer service. YMMV. We don't have to agree. (Not aimed at you CR)

I posted in another thread the "scare" I had yesterday, but I'll post it again here really quick. Basically, I had the next size up of SIM from Verizon than the one the N6 takes. Wanting to avoid the hassle, I bought a Noosy SIM cutter, and was a bit alarmed because when I used it to cut the SIM, it seemed to trim off a smidge of the gold part, towards the bottom of the card. This scared me because I thought I've heard that cutting any of that off at all is very bad.

I tried it out anyway when my N6 came. It wasn't doing anything for a minute or two, then the signal icon started showing an "R" and an "!". This made me nervous. After another minute or so, it finally picked up on LTE, though it seemed to drop after a minute or so, but then it came back on.

I've been on wifi all morning setting up my phone right now, so I haven't paid too much attention to my signal status. I have noticed a couple of times that the signal bar gets completely empty from time to time (and once while this happened, I pulled down the notification shade, and the signal icon had a "!" inside it), but it seems to stay on, for the most part. I guess I'll find out for sure in a little while once I'm off wifi and at work for the rest of the day.

I wonder, though, if it's possible my signal is spotty because of the tiny sliver that got cut from the gold portion. I'm not sure how much that would affect it. Would a messed up SIM card just not work at all, or would it be spotty, like mine might be?

My only gripe on Verizon: Locked Bootloaders on the flagship phones--not carrying the full Nexus progression.

According to GSAM I'm averaging 1day and 13 hours with 61/2 hours screen on time over the last 10 days on my Turbo. I think that is what is going to keep me with it. I don't feel I'll get anything close to that with a Nexus 6.

Had the turbo for a week and returned it.. Now have the N6,there's no comparison N6 is in another class.
