Re: It's a typical Nexus phone, full of compromises
Frame the Note 4 Panel and the Nexus 6 panel and run the same video side by side.. Then ask 100 random people to tell you which one is better and you'll more than likely get a 50/50 like split on which one looks better... YES the Note 4 has a better panel on paper...
CPU is the top of the line in the android world right now and the exact same CPU in the 2014 US Note 4 correct? the 808 and 810 chips won't be in mass production and in mainstream devices until second quarter 2015...
Every review I read says the battery last a full day on a single charge with regular use.... I sleep at least 5 or 6 hours each night... Charge it up and you are good to go tomorrow.... some people say a single day is awesome and a few people bashed it for only lasting a single day.. where as I would love to have LG Flip phone 5 - 6 day battery life we just don't live in that world with smart phones.... Battery tech has had minimal improvements over the years... It's mostly been done with improved hardware and software to manage the battery better.. That said I wish that while they were out making a monster they went ahead and threw in the 3,900 or 4,000 battery... what is a few more millimeters in thickness and quarter of an ounce of weight while your at it????
Once I have one and I run it through it's paces in my real world every day use I'll hammer it for anything I feel is lacking or less than acceptable.
Name a perfect device with no compromise in it what so ever? No such animal... You have to get what works best for you and live with the good and the bad of that choice.. I don't know the weakness of the Nexus 6 in my real world use... They could and probably will be completely different than yours would be....
Software can't fix hardware issues -
- panel is an older gen AMOLED with very low brightness and poor color calibration
- cpu has no ARM v8 which means no AES support
I have also read a lot of reviews and they all say the same thing - its the best Nexus ever made. No one says its the best phone, and they all mention a bunch of compromises made with the battery life, screen, sensitivity of wakeup/ambient display etc etc.
What I find ironic is people willing to excuse any flaw as long as its a Nexus. It's the same story every year, and this time it was supposed to be a no compromise Nexus, wasn't it?
