Google Nexus 6P Like the concept, but it is too darn big

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

It really sucks that they didn't just make a smaller one I had the 6p and I wound up sending it back it was great even though I'm not a fan of amoled screens I was willing to deal with that but the size was just too much I have average hands and I just couldn't get comfortable with it.

I'm coming from the m8 and now I'm getting the 5x I hope it's still a good upgrade and I'm not keen on the plastic build buy hopefully I like it.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

I'd love to see a 5 inch phone with 6P specs but that just doesn't seem to be very common. So when it was time to upgrade the Moto X (2013) last week I went with the 6P. I find it just big enough to be a little annoying in the pants pocket when I get in the car and one handed use is not completely possible (and I've got big hands). But after a few days I honestly don't notice the size any longer.

Try the phone. You have 2 weeks to decide.

Funny thing for me is that after I got the spigen rugged armor case the phone feels smaller..

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

When I opened the box and took out the Adopted case I ordered with it, my first thought was "how big IS this phone?" Once I got the phone out, I fell in love. I had a Moto X (first-gen), it feels SOOO small compared to the 6P. Oddly, the 6P doesn't feel too big in my pocket and the more I use it the more comfortable it is to use.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

I used to think that when I got my nexus 6 last year. It didn't take me long to get used to the size. Can even reply with text with one hand ( though I do have trouble reaching some letters and I wouldn't recommend doing it for long. It gets heavy) I can't imagine going back to a smaller screen.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

I was the same way 2 years ago or so. Coming from the N5 to the N6, I was wary of the big screen. Now if it's smaller than 5.7" no thanks! I can't go back to small screens.

Me too, I used to mock and make fun of the Galaxy Note when it first came out, now it's no longer too big for me. As far as the 6P goes, I quickly realized that for me it's a 2-handed phone and i can either accept that, or get something else. But even a 5" phone is too big for most hands to use *easily*, so why not go with the 6P and just forget about one handed use?

That said the perfect phone would change sizes and be about 4" for one handed use and 7" for two handed use - maybe we'll have that in the year 2025 :).

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

I agree it's too bad there aren't more high end smaller phones, but at this point it kind of just is what it is: deal with a bigger device or compromise on specs. Nothing we can do about it unfortunately.

I really think Apple (finally) has the sizing right on their phones. Make two phones that are nearly identical, one with a screen between 4.5-5.0", another between 5.5-6.0". Ignore the 5.1-5.4" range completely.

I really like my N6P, but I wish it came in a 4.7" variety.

To each their own, but I think 4.7" is just way too small any more. My girlfriend, who swore she'd never get a "big" phone, has a Galaxy S5 now and thinks that's a great size for her. Anything under 5" to me seems like a child's phone, but I don't know if it's worth it for the manufacturers to make a 5"-5.2" and then a 5.6"-6" inch phone in the same exact model.

My fiancee was the same way before she got her iPhone 6+. She always keeps her phone in her purse when she's out and about so it's not a matter of being too big to pocket. Honestly, you get used to it. I was a little hesitant when I went from a GS4 to Note 4 but after a few days of use, it becomes second nature. And having a big, gorgeous screen really justifies the bigger phone. Some of the older phones like the iPhone 4S and even the 5 look like toys by comparison. The 6P is a big phone but it doesn't necessarily feel that way to me.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

Love the Nexus concept, I just wish this was a 4.7" to 5.1" phone, which is the perfect size. My HTC M7 was perfect for me, fit in my hand, fit in a pocket, fit on the belt in a case, just not too big. Make it in the 4.7-5.1 inch range and I'd get two.

I said this same exact thing last year. I didn't understand how anyone could carry a device with a 5.7" screen. After spending most of the year with the iPhone 6 Plus and the rest of the year with the Sammy Edge +, I could never go back to a smaller screen. Never.

While the 6P is a little annoying to pull out of a pocket (particularly in like a car), the size has grown on me. I don't mind the 4.7" screen, but I am digging the bigger one.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

I've had it for two days now, but no sim card yet so hasn't been my daily driver. I came from an LG G2 which has a 5.2" screen. It really is a good size. That said, I was ready to go to the LG G4, which has the 5.5" screen, because I wanted to go a little bigger without going full on phablet. Then the 6p came out and threw me because it had most of the features I wanted, and on a pure Android phone. Once I get my sim and my case, I'll try it out to be absolutely positive, in which case if I'm not happy, I'll go to the G4 (or wait a few months for the G5). However, I will say that in the short time I had it, I adjusted pretty quickly to its size. A relative recently got an LG V10 and I got to play with that for a couple hours (which he returned after two days and got an iphone 6S instead). Although the V10 is the same height, the width is just a tad less wide on the 6p. I noticed a difference, in that I think the 6p was just enough smaller in width to make it easier to handle than the V10. If the 5X had the exact same features, I probably would have gone that way, but for now, I'm keeping an open mind and the more I use it, the more I feel I won't want to go back to a smaller size.

For you. Not everyone likes small phones. To me, 5.5" would be too small. I don't even want a 5.7" phone, as I'm so used to my 6" Nexus 6. Heck, I could even go 6.2" without even thinking about it. (provided the bezels were very small) It eliminates the need for a tablet.

Yep! I almost didn't buy the 6p because of the size difference in screen. I prefer a 6" or larger screen, anything below that is a step in the wrong direction. However the 6p has some features that make me ignore the screen size. This phone would have been perfect if it was 6.1 or 6.2".

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

I literally told my friends that I had maxed out in size with my LG G3. Couldn't imagine having a bigger phone. Look at me now... have the 6P and I think I'm going to adapt. If I had to complain, I would say they didn't need to put the two speakers on the phone to cut its height down. That's just me. I'm sure there are a lot of people that want the dual speakers.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

Can anyone compare the size with the Note 4? I have a note 4 and loved the size of the N6, but it did feel heavy and big to hold. At times when on my Note 4 for a long phone call, in the beginning it felt heavy, but I got use to it in no time. I don't think the 6P would bother me compared to the N6, but how much of a difference in the weight and feel from a note 4? I actually like the bigger phones. Easier for me to read with my eyes at my age.

Re: Like the concept, but it is too darn big

Yes, that was what I was stating, for ME, anything over 5.2" is just too big for everyday use. I don't need or want a phablet, but this is for ME, not everyone else. I just wish phone manufacturers would realize that there is a market for large and mid size phones, and the middys should not be lower spec phones. Heck Apple does it with the iPhone 6 series. 4.7" to 5.2" is still the best size compromise for me.

I had a Note 4. I think the 6P is a little taller by a few mm. The 6P just feels better in the hand. I think they weigh the same; I can't really tell the difference so it's probably minimal at best.

I made the same jump (Moto X 2013 to 6P). Still getting used to it. This thing is big. I agree, 5X size with 6P specs would be a winner!!!!
