Google Nexus 6P Must have apps

Re: Must have apps

Is it worth the money to buy Nova Prime or is the free one good enough for government work?

Try the free one. If you like it after a week buy it. There are a couple of launchers that people use, so try them all.

Re: Must have apps

Gestures, hide apps, icon swipes, and drawer groups are not available in the free version. Nova Launcher

Would you use those features?

Probably not at this point. Have to have more android water go under the bridge before I know what I need or want. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Must have apps

Nobody listed Tunein Radio yet so I will, and also highly recommend CarDashdroid for a car mode UI, I love it. Totally replaced those annoying locked down proprietary infotainment systems installed in most new cars these days for me.

Re: Must have apps

mymail is great for all your email accounts, msecure, lightflow, clash of clans, the score, dropbox, snapseed, chromecast, 1weather to name is few .... FYI never got used to swiftkey, prefer Google keyboard with nova prime

Does Swiftkey have the ability to string letters and numbers together yet like 6P or M7? That's one of the most annoying things for me with Swiftkey, is that it just will not let you flow some words . And, from that perspective, Swype blows it away. With Swype, once you type any combination of letters and add them to your dictionary, then you can flow that word and not so much with Swiftkey.

I've decided to give it another try. I must admit I do like the ability to use a number row at the top of the keyboard!

Used to love Google voice, but it refuses to work on 6P/Verizon now :(
Really? I've been using it for the past few weeks and works great on Verizon. You just have to make sure you forward all calls gojng directly to your cell phine to your Google Voice account and have your phone number listed properly for your cell phone in your account. It takes a bit to setup but once it is, it's pretty rock solid.

How did you set it up? I can't for the life of me get it on work. I had it working before on my note 3 on Verizon, but something is setup wrong now on the 6P I guess...

I've tried *73 to clear it all out and then *71 to forward to my Google voice number, but it still won't work.

I get a message saying I don't have features when I try *90 or *92

First, do the *73 to make sure everythig is all cleared out. I would then do a *71 to say your home number or some other phone you can listen for that will ring. Dial your cell number and verify that your call forwarding feature works. If you call your cell after you forwarded it to another number you can monitor and it does not ring that phone, contact Verizon support and see why it's not forwarding properly, there may be a feature on your account that isn't turned on.

I was able to simply do a *71+Google Number and it worked with no issues.

I would first test on your phone if it can actually forward to another phone first to trouble shoot it. If it doesn't work, then call Verizon and just tell them that your call forwarding feature isn't working, don't tell them your trying to forward it to Google voice or they will try and lay blame on Google voice, just tell them you can't forward your calls to your home number.

Dang, I didn't have to do any of that stuff. I simply signed in with my Google account and everything worked fine. Then again, when I initially set up Gvoice a few years ago, I selected the "only use for voicemail" option

Firefox (works better than Chrome imo)
Twilight (I use it more for nighttime when I'm asleep and checking the time so not to get blinded)
Pluto TV (Free TV streaming)
Stumbleupon (check out random websites based on your interest by the push of a button)

Thanks to this thread, I found a few apps I didn't know existed that will help me out with my job too. Thanks guys!

Re: Must have apps

Nonsense! I have 119 apps downloaded and installed in addition to system apps that came with the phone. My phone runs great and stays awake on average 5 minutes per hour, with a drain of 0.15%/hour during idle/deep sleep.

Really ?? On Nexus 6P ??

I just got the nexus 6p, and had no idea what a leaning curve I was in for. Can you help please?

I'm looking for:

- Key board with numbers on top row, and a crisp feel (I liked the note 5 keyboard)

- simple one stop trust worthy app killer/cleaner/security checker

- simple gallery that stores screen shots, skeetch, photos, and downloaded images all by default

SwiftKey for keyboard and you don't need any sort of task killer
