Google Nexus 6P Must have apps

Re: Must have apps

Says not compatible for me. Gahhh! Why? I really want to get this working.

I'm still on Nexus 6. I'll have my 6P tomorrow. You saying this is showing not compatible with 6p? S H I T

Re: Must have apps

what? Nobody has mentioned Evernote yet?

This has become critical to my life and now cannot live without it. It all started on my phone, but I access the Web based interface from work too.

Re: Must have apps

I 2nd this question. It won't let me download it and I'm assuming it's because the whole not an approved device thing. But come on, it's just visual voicemail. I use it all the time. Felt weird calling to get my Vm again.

You don't want to use Google voice for voicemail? I ditched Verizon's vm service a long time ago for gvoice

Re: Must have apps

I use Textra SMS, Swiftkey (Beta), QuickPic and Inbox on all my Android phones.

I'm using some other voicemail app from the store right now. I got my phone on Friday and haven't really used it for work until today. We will see how it goes.

Same here. VZW bloat like navigator. Ugh. Using Project Fi here, all my voicemail are visual with nothing extra done on my part. Ported my GV number over. Voicemail just shows up in my recents.

Timely is a must for alarm clock users!! It backs up alarms to your gmail account so if you are rooting and roming it will bring them back automatically. And it has a great design.

Timely FTW!

(and NO, I dont work for timely) :)

Re: Must have apps

Nova launcher - Best, most configurable launcher out there

Tasker - Automate your phone in infinite ways (e.g., I have mine automatically turn on Wi-Fi at work or home, turn on bluetooth when I exit work or home, automatically launch certain apps when I enter my car, lower my ringer volume when at work, etc.)

Lux Dash - Adusts your screen brightness, works much better than the built-in ambient display, and more configurable.

Screebl Pro - Keeps your screen on as long as you hold your phone at a certain angle (e.g., holding and using your phone), but then turns the screen off when you set your phone down. I've been using it for years, I consider it essential.

Swiftkey - Best keyboard
Feedly

CamScanner - Best app for taking photos of documents/whiteboards/etc. and converting to legible PDFs, etc.

Evernote - Cross platform note taker, I use it extensively to clip websites and articles for reading offline, as well as taking notes, etc.

Gesture Search - Search through all your contacts quickly by just drawing the first letter or two of someone's name

LastPass - My favorite password manager, multi-platform, also allows you to use the fingerprint reader of the Nexus

Timely - Great alarm clock

Re: Must have apps

Nova Launcher
SwiftKey (Fleksy has also made a great impression)
AirDroid (texting from your computer, transferring files, music, etc.)
Google Authenticator
CamScanner
Google Keep
Nine (for Exchange email)
Sleep Cycle

Re: Must have apps

Titanium Backup
Greenify
AppSettings
Evolve SMS
Emoji Switcher
Kernel Adiutor
Solid Explorer 2.1.4

Re: Must have apps

As previously mentioned, it really depends on what you want to do with your phone. After you've been using android for a while, I would suggest trying Tasker. It can be a little tough to figure out at first, but once you do you can truly automate your phone.

Re: Must have apps

I will be coming from TSF Shell as my launcher. Though a very nice launcher with some very good aspects one thing I missed is the inability to add icon packs.

I am going to go to Nova Launcher and try that based on many recommendations here. Is there somewhere that has some tutorials or tips for setting it up? That is always helpful the first time you tackle an app.

Re: Must have apps

I mainly installed SwiftKey -- I use Google Messenger and that is already the stock one.

Re: Must have apps

I have to second Screebl Pro.

Also Textra is the best SMS app. and like most of this thread says, Swiftkey is the essential keyboard.

Re: Must have apps

A couple not mentioned above.......Power Toggles and HD Widgets.
