Google Nexus 6P Must have apps

Re: Must have apps

If you want an app that will help you become a better person then you need to download Fabulous. It helps you become more motivated, get more focused, become more productive and much more. It's free to download as well!

Re: Must have apps

There're lots of Apps for android, you need to clearly know what you want to do,better not install too many Apps unnecessary, which would make your phone stuck.

Re: Must have apps

For me, the ones I find the handiest are:

Battery Widget Reborn (battery graph in notifications)
VLC (for everything)
Snapseed (photo editing)

Nonsense! I have 119 apps downloaded and installed in addition to system apps that came with the phone. My phone runs great and stays awake on average 5 minutes per hour, with a drain of 0.15%/hour during idle/deep sleep.

Re: Must have apps

-Textra
-PocketCasts
-LightFlow
-Accuweather Premium
-Android Central (gotta get the shameless plug)
-reddit is fun golden platinum
-Talon for Twitter
-Timely
-Visual Voicemail (T-Mo)

Still using all of these on my Note 4, but will move them all to my 6P when it arrives later this month

Does the T-mobile Visual Voicemail work naturally on the N6P? I still do not have a visual voicemail solution. I am on sprint.

Re: Must have apps

i like Swype more than Swiftkey---swiftkey seems to get hte words im typing wrong all the time, whereas swype seems to get them right

Re: Must have apps

I am new to Android what are the must have apps to get me started

A more correct to divide applications into categories: business, finance, games, hobby etc. But all in all any of flashlight apps, you favorite messenger, some of video player apps

Re: Must have apps

Coming from the Note 4 to the 6p - Loved the alarm app on the Sammy Note line - only because it played some zen sounding music extremely quietly and would increase in volume slowly - was actually soothing to wake up like that instead of jarring alarm noise - is there any alarm app that also gradually increases the volume?

Swiftkey Neural, Lightflow, Evernote all great apps.

Re: Must have apps

So I've seen lots of recommendations for SwiftKey. I'm curious: What does it do that the Google keyboard doesn't?

Re: Must have apps

ESPN, Google Maps, Evernote, banking apps, Box, Dropbox or other cloud apps, Play Music, Uber, Weather Channel

Re: Must have apps

My main gripe with stock Android was the contacts. I switched to Contacts+. I use groups and Contacts+ easily works with them. I also made Contacts+ my default SMS app. It's also my dialer.

Timely lets you adjust the alarm fade-in length to be 5 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1, 2, or 5 minutes. It also has an feature you can use called "smart rise" which is based on advanced sleep cycle theory. It plays a light melody 30 minutes before your scheduled alarm, which will wake you from light sleep.

Re: Must have apps

Swiftkey is a must

I have tested multiple keyboards on android. Google has improved a lot with the default keyboard, but Swiftkey just makes typing so much quicker because it learns your typing pattern over time. So the more you use it, the more it knows what you have more typo on and more it make precise predictions.

another must for me is the Calendar and Keep widget (comes with phone)
Calendar is literally the widget for google calendar. Keep is the task / note taking taking app. Both as nice to have a home screen widgets because as soon as you turn on your phone you can immediately see your todo list, and appointments. Good for forgettable people like me lol

The thing I like most about SwifKey is that you can personalize it. Not just aesthetics like color but also the size of the keyboard and the configuration. It also "learns" what you type a lot, which really helps out when it does suggestions for word completion.

Re: Must have apps

My favorite and most frequently used apps:

Nova Launcher - IMO this exemplifies what Android is all about. You can customize literally everything on your home screen. Font size, icon size, padding, animation speeds...there's just way to much. Despite that level of customization, it's pretty easy to figure out.

Fenix - I've tried a bunch of different Twitter apps but this is the one that works best for me. Looks great and it's easy to customize how you want tweets sent, copied, etc.

Yahoo Sports - Best thing about this app is that if you login with your Yahoo account, it saves your favorite team settings across all sports. That way you always see your teams first whenever you click to see the scores for a particular sports league.

Messenger (Google) - My preferred SMS/MMS app. Love how you can color code everyone in a conversation. Makes it easy to track group texts.

Is it worth the money to buy Nova Prime or is the free one good enough for government work?
