Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks

Is there a copy/paste issue with firefox? I can highlight text and get the two little pointer things to come up, but that top bar with the option to copy never appears in firefox. Everything works properly when I try it in Chrome.

Move the pointers so the area you want to highlight is blocked in orange. Then put your finger on the highlighted area and hold it there for a couple of seconds and a box with choices will pop up, including a 'copy' option.

A little tip that's come up from the 4.2 update. Your screenlock and setting button haven't disappeared from the the notification swipe down, they've just moved!

Congrats. The galaxy nexus is great, except for 1 glitch. If you press your cheek to the screen while calling, it will press some button or the other.

If you go to your recent thumbnails, you can touch and hold an application to see the app info. This is useful if you want to uninstall or stop it.

Not sure if this is the best place for Nexus Q&A, but here goes:

I am considering purchase of a Nexus 7 tablet and want to run Netflix and Comcast's Xfinity on it.

Are the Netflix and Xfinity Apps readily available and do they run well on the Nexus 7 platform??

Thanks.

Netflix works fine. I can't say on the other app though.

When you have a new question unrelated to the thread you're reading, use the SEARCH function to see if your question has been asked before, and if not, post a NEW TOPIC. Thanks. ,:)

I don't know if this has been posted.

While holding the N7 in landscape mode, you can turn the volume up or down by swiping up or down on the right edge of the screen. Swiping up or down on the left edge of the screen to increase or decrease the brightness.

It's not working for me.

Sorry. This seems to only work when watching a video in vplayer.
MoboPlayer has a similar function.

Hi there,

I bought a Nexus 7 for my little brother as a Xmas gift. I would like to set it up before I give it to him which means I need to register it under his email address. That's not a problem, but I don't want it to send an email to his address that 'your device has been successfully activated' or something. How can I ensure that he doesn't find out that he has a Nexeven waiting for him?

Cheers,
Herbie

I think the best thing to do would be to set up an account with no email account and then connect it up when he gets it. You can connect it up to account afterwards by going into googleplay.

I don't know if it's a well known thing but I only found this easy way to delete pictures from gallery or camera app recently .
in gallery , open a picture and pinch in and it will be smaller and you can see the previous and next picture, at that time if you slide the tile of picture down or up, it will be deleted, just like the removal of app from recent app/multitasking section.
