This might be a long one so I apologize in advance.
Phone was supposed to ship on the 23rd and I received an email from Google stating there is a hold on my account with Synchrony Bankon the morning of the 23rd. I follow the email link and re-select Google Financing and call Google. I get someone on the phone and he looks everything up and confirms that everything is good and the phone is in the warehouse and should go out today, not to worry. I ask why I received the hold email and he states that it was an issue in the warehouse and that it has been fixed and not to worry.
By 1:00 pm still no emails from Google, so I call back into support and explain what had happened and asked them to confirm that everything they need they have. Yep!!! we have the ref id from Synchrony bank he tells me and says every thing has processed and its going out of the warehouse no issues.
Sweet!!! I totally stop worrying about it and go about my day and around 9 PM I check my order....to my surprise nothing has changed and says still processing and the ability to cancel is still there. HMMMM.....so I started a Chat session with Google support that lasted 2 hours. Synchrony had a hold on the account and cancelled the order I was told. WHAT!!!!!! I told the rep to look at the previous notes on my account. He did and came back and said let him get to the bottom of this. Come to find out the hold was on the account and never lifted. He said I would have to contact the Synchrony and find out what is wrong. I was LIVID!!! Not because the hold was on the account but because I had two support people totally give me misinformation. I switched my payment and the phone has shipped yesterday so we are good on that end.
I asked for the support person that I was on the Chat with to please research what had happened and why I was told not to worry. As a customer I would have been waiting for a phone that never arrived. He said that based on the notes the previous two did not do their job and he was very sorry about that. He said he was going to report that and I guess that is that. What happened to "Do No Evil", I know Google no longer has that as a vision but what has happened. The least support could do was do their job. I previously had the Essential phone and had to deal with the lack of support as they were a start up, I though coming back to Google was going to be a walk in the park.
Thank you for giving space to rant, at the end of the day all is good, it is just a phone and I already have one.
