Getting back to the 6 Pro... hopefully Google and beta testers are putting this phone through hard use paces. I'm interested and would not like to have major glitches and issues, hardware or software, upon release.
I believe the same can be said about every OEM.You gotta remember this is Google, I don't think they've ever released a phone without some kind of issues/class actions/extended warranties for problems etc, their reputation in that area hasn't been the best. But I've owned multiple problem phones of theirs and never had an issue myself, and won't hesitate to own more. The 6 is a brand new phone in every way though..... I'll be shocked if it doesn't have some teething problems of some kind.
Past few devices I've held off on pre orders in order to see how things shake out. But this time I'm with ya; there will be no sitting on the sidelines for me this time!!I'm ordering one as soon as they are available. I'll take my chances, diving in head first.![]()
It's possible that the launch will be earlier than October since the Pixel 5 was removed from the Google store recently. Maybe that was a sign? Just a maybe?OMG.... I hope this leak is true. But I have reservations...

This would be great but I highly doubt it. I think Google will give Apple their own stage since the iPhone launches around the same time or is Google really playing the villain this year?OMG.... I hope this leak is true. But I have reservations...

Camera sensor has already proven itself to be extremely capable, even without Google's processing. And it's actually the 'older' model now, as there's a newer generation (though I'm suspecting Google wouldn't have gone with the newer even if they could due to the amount of time I'm sure it takes for them to optimize their post-processing for the sensor).
I'm not concerned about the 5g either. It's been used on other devices outside the USA without issue. And if it has an issue with mm-wave... well, it'll be years before that will impact me.
Chip.... there's a wide range of possibility there. It could beat the best expectations out there, or fail the worst. I'm hoping for somewhere inbetween, leaning towards the former. It's not a totally new thing - still ARM based, and really most likely just a modified and enhanced Exynos. But yes, every new chip can have issues, even new models of what everyone considers the pinnacle of those for Android devices - the SD888 was plagued with thermal throttling issues.
Not sure how the case itself would present any issues from a performance perspective.
There's a whole lot that could go wrong, and surely some things that will, but I'm betting against anything catastrophic, and that the upsides will heavily outweigh the downsides (which Google has a decent track record of overcoming, or at least lessening)). I'll be buying on day one, just a matter of pricing dictating which it'll be.
Well I for one will be buy the Pixel 6 pro the minute orders start. I loved loved the Pixel 4 XL except for the battery life.
Can't wait to see what the camera will be like.
Anyone can give a 1000 reasons to NOT buy any product. Any mass produced product will have some issues.
You can wait and see if a product has issues....and wait...and wait...and eventually all of them will have some issues.
Integration of a Samsung 5G modem with a newly designed untried processor! As noted from an article I read, a modem is not enough to support millimeter-wave in a phone it has to integrate firmly with the processor and other internal component. And even if not important to you (where I live, 5g sub is not even available from any company so mmwave might be here after there is a colony on the moon); however, it will be important to some and if mmwave does not operate, possibly it could cause a problem with sub 5g. Time will tell....
Case is part of hardware. Yes, there could be a problem with the case, design and/or fit.
And there still is not enough info in regard to other internal hardware components.
Just too much that could go wrong for me to ever consider to purchase for a long time after release.
But, as iPhone has their zombies, I have come to learn that google has their zombies. (So does Samsung.)
However, someone has to go first to be the tester customers. Just like many are running 12 beta. Someone is always first. And I hope there are no problems for those who do go first.
The screenshot definitely makes things interesting... It would certainly be a welcomed surprise. The Pixel 5 is very, very lackluster for the price compared to the new 5a, so it makes sense they'vve pulled it - though with the very limited availability the 5a will enjoy globally, that could hamper them. Has the 5 been pulled from other global markets as well - specifically, those where the 5a will not be available?
If Google truly wants to try to steal some iPhone market share, they'd need to move up their launch to be close to the date of the iPhones - which are expected to launch in September, with several sites predicting September 14. The new Pixels won't sway iPhonephiliacs regardless, but some who might cross over would probably simply order when the iPhones release, if they aren't at that point seeing anything else to cause them to hesitate. And as much as we, and many other enthusiasts, are deeply excited by the new Pixels, the average person has no idea that Google is planning a device that might in fact have some compelling value for the first time.
I'm not expecting it to happen, but I could envision a scenario where they hold the launch event that early if they are confident they'll be ready to ship within 2-3 weeks afterwards.
Edit: The source referenced by the site the 'leak' is from seems pretty sketchy, but it's arguably backed up much more strongly by the screenshot Hiroshi Lockheimer (Google's SVP of Android) tweeted a bit back (and then deleted).

I also hope this is true. I can't wait to get the 6 pro in Dreamcicle and what others are calling gold. I just hope they don't sell out before I can click buy. I've had every XL version and the 5 and I've not been this excited since the 2XL Panda/Stormtrooper.
