Google Pixel Common Issues

I'm about to open my self gifted Google Pixel this Christmas and would appreciate if anyone could expand on the MOST common issues known with this device that I should test immediately to know whether I should either return or request a replacement device. So far I'm aware of the following:

- Speaker distortion when volume is raised all the way up.
- Camera lens flare
- Bluetooth signal dropping (particularly when connecting to a car)
- Reception signal weak/dropping

Any others?

I've actually had none of these issues. The only one I temporarily had was Bluetooth signal dropping in a car, but that was because the Amazon Alexa app.

Great! I think those issues are all overblown by the tech tabloids (including AC) for click bait. I have not had any of those problems with my Pixel. It has literally been the best phone I've ever had.

Maybe, but some of us have real connectivity problems. Forums, not just this one, full of that.

I wish they would go ahead and release this NMF26Q build without having to side load this. Many people that had connectivity issues after the December update have stated this one works. They need to get this one out right away if it has been working. Hoping they are not going to wait until the Jan security update before they push this out. If something is discovered to work, they should push it right away and not make anyone wait. People have had this for almost several weeks now, yet it hasn't been confirmed when Google will be releasing this other then the fact that it will be coming.

Then to make matters worse, Verizon not allowing wi-fi calling to use all wi-fi and uses cellular too. What does that do to people with connectivity issues already? Wi-Fi calling is slightly better for me but not completely because of this!

The pixel really is ONE of those phones that has been hated by many from its inception. And, it's all about the pricing. However, if you can get passed lack of waterproofing and front facing speakers, then you'll find this phone to be amazing. The screen, camera, and software experience are second to none. I've had no Bluetooth issues at all. There's some lens flare, but not in any pictures that I'd want to keep, meaning I'd have to try to recreate the problem. And, the speaker distortion is just a non issue.

However, I am experiencing a feed issue in the Google app. That kind of sucks. Google has been informed and so I wait. I've had this issue before where my news will not hit my feed but everything else does. It happened on my 6p and Nexus 6 before it. I probably block too many fake news sites, but it will work itself out I'm sure.

My phone was just frozen had to hold power button for 10 sec and restart , don't know if it's gonna happen again I hope not

This has happened to me too on a semi regular basis. I have to restart my phone as it never unfreezes itself

Still finding connecting to network is spotty. Still having some video issues. And tap to wake almost never works (raise to wake usually does). My sense is that a lot of these phones are just fine and some aren't. I think that is true of most phones but I also feel this one was overhyped so that the problems which are real to quite a lot of people seem to stand out more.

Enjoy your phone, its a fantastic device. But just to chime in on the issues you listed:

- The speaker "problem" is one that seems to only be triggered by a very small number of apps and only when you have it at max volume (or one notch below). I can't imagine this being a deal breaker. If it is, I would hate to be married to "you".
- Lens flare, I have seen it once so far but I was intentionally wanting to see it by having my lens facing the sun. Otherwise, no issues.
- Bluetooth has not once dropped out on me yet. What I have noticed is sometimes the autoplay begins and sometimes it does not.
-And as for reception, I have not had better signal with a phone yet. Usually I had really bad signals with phones, in the -117 to -120 range. Now I get about -109 to -115.

Notifications have been wonky for me though. Sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. And doze still has that habit of holding notifications it seems until you wake it and then they all just go off at once. I don't mind this at all, but maybe some people would not.

Try turning wifi off during sleep. This seems to have helped mine.
