Google Pixels are NOT Samsung or Apple

It's the fact. Time after time.
Google fails to put the hardware in the phones.

But charges premium prices for the phones..

That is the problem.

And the pixel fans just dont care..
Time after time, Samsung bends over back to the US carriers and let them control everything, crap up the firmware, let carriers remove certain features, not receive fast updates and still charge premium prices. But Samsung buyers don't seem to care.

See you can spin it either way

PS: I owned every phone Google, Samsung, OnePlus, iPhone or whatever phone companies put out

To summarize, different people value different things. You might feel someone is crazy to spend X amount of money to buy product Y. But it's not you it's someone else doing that. Same goes other way. This is never ending debate lol.

And do you think any other phone manufacturer does? I'll wait....

Different phones for different people.

When I worked in the cellphone business, some of our questions to ask customers was, "What did they use their phone for? What did they do for work? Do they travel? Do they care about specs? What kind of devices do they have at home? Etc

Every customer answers were different. That's how I sold phones when a customer didn't know what phone works for them. See the things you care about, another customer don't and vice versa.

You're hip on specs and hardware and that's most likely one of the things you look at when buying a phone but most people want a phone that works for their everyday use..not YOUR everyday use. Remember that.

I was wrong on the 4XL beating the Note. The Note lasted 8 minutes longer over ~8.5 hours. From my perspective anybody that bad mouths any of these 4 phones about daily user battery life has issues.

I'm not going by those test , I'm going by my device I own test. Have 2 Sims Att and TMO

Note 9 - 9 to 10 sot with a day battery
2 days battery with 5 sot - TMobile dim

Note10+ 7 to 8 sot a day battery/ Att SIM probably can do Note 9 territory with TMobile sim

1+7pro full 90hz. 6 to 7 SOT a day battery TMobile sim

Pixel 3a 3,000mah battery a day 3 sot
Best was 20hr 7sot. Never happened again - Att sim

Pixel 3xl a day battery 5sot - don't own anymore

Pixel 2xl similar to 3xl

iPhone X a day battery never seen sot my guess 4 to 5 sot

My s9+ /s10+ /1+6/ not going to bring in the mix

You're going to get different SOT's with varying signal strengths (-dBM's) though. The video was on wifi (assuming the same wifi) so things should be equal. IMO I don't think the battery on the 4XL is near as bad as the naysayers think it is. We should have a better idea shortly on battery performance.

I went 14 hours today on mine (4XL). That’s without watching YouTube videos or playing games.

Just checking Social media periodically, lots of texting my family, internet browsing and 2 phone calls.

Got home and had 35% left.

Personally I have been criticising the Pixel 4’s battery, not the XL’s.

2800mAh with a 90hz FHD 5.6 inch OLED display won’t go as far as its competitors. Adaptive battery can only do so much.

This phone is bashed because it is overpriced and is poorly executed overall. If you gonna charge me $900 then give me more than 64gb of storage and make sure I can see the damn screen in direct sunlight. Also an all day battery life wouldn’t hurt. That is not too much to ask for $900.

1. Why are all manufacturers still comparing their cameras to Pixels if the Pixel is such a bad phone? (Hint - no one can touch the Visual Core chip's capabilities.)

2. Apple will always beat Android phones on battery - because the apps are native, not Java. (Or an iPhone can have a smaller battery than an Android phone and last as long - same reason.)

False, Apple just started beating android devices in terms of battery life. Before the 11 series and the XR of last year they weren’t leading in terms of battery life.

The fact that the op says Samsung phones come with 2 messaging apps lol. Samsung phones only come with Samsung messages by default. You're free to download any others as you choose plus there are many people that prefer the Samsung browser to chrome due to being less memory and better at blocker integration. Don't know people for simply having choices when it comes to apps. That is the foundation of Androids success in the first place.

OP is misinformed as much as Apple fans are. It’s 2019 and he still thinks samsung phones have 2 messaging apps smh.

I played with one at best buy and it's about the same as my pixel 2xl with some improvement. I will not upgrade since I have the Note 10 plus but for some it's a worthy upgrade IMHO. Its getting a lot of bad press and I really don't see why it's a solid phone just no WOW factor this year from Google.

It’s because of the price tag compared to the competition that it’s getting all this bad press. As a stand-alone phone the pixel 4xl is a solid phone. But when you compare it to the competition and see what they offer vs the pixel 4xl, it becomes a tough sell. Not to mention what google has taken away from its customers like the headphones in the box and the unlimited high quality photos storage etc...

When I went to bed last night I had well over 5 hours of on screen time and still had 41% battery remaining. If I pushed it I would've had at least 7+ hours of on screen time on my XL. That's more then enough time for 99.9% of the population.

That is assuming that 99.9% of the population uses the phone the exact same way that you do. Because according to 99.9% of the reviewers on YouTube the battery life isn’t anything to write home about. Also did you turn off some features like motion sense and the 90hz display?

Yeah but that’s not a good example though. You need to compare them fairly. You can purchase a Samsung phone carrier free directly from Samsung just like you can buy a pixel from google. That phone will not come with the crapware. Furthermore, Samsung offer WAY MORE than google. Their trade in program alone plus the extras that you get for preordering (free Samsung buds, free wireless charger) as well as getting a good amount for you’re trade in phone. Google offers a max of $250 of trade in value for the 3Xl, Samsung offers up to $550 for the S9 series or whatever recent galaxy phone to put towards a note 10/S10 and they give you some goodies on top of that. Meanwhile google takes away headphones and unlimited photos etc... you need to tell the whole story. At the end of the day, what do I get for my money? That is what matters to me as a consumer. That is why Samsung buyers are ok dealing with the carrier crapware and stuff, because the carriers as well as Samsung is offering solid incentives, meanwhile google gives you the middle finger while taking away stuff.

Yeah I agree, pixel 4xl will be ok battery life , just wont be in Note territory on battery life or iphone 11 pro...I think more like my 1+7pro or just below it.. what I was getting at is real world how it will be , and pixel 4xl should get a day probably 5 to 6 SOT this ideal what you see mixed wifi and data .

Nope. Nothing was turned off. Personally, I think I'm on my phone more than the average person. I'm not a gamer but I am on my phone a lot. I used it work work so all my phone calls and emails for work come through there. I'm on a call probably 65%-70% of my day most days. If it can make it through a day with me most people will be ok. I've said it before in this thread and I'll say it again now. Just like the news you have to take YouTubers reviews with a dunno truck load of salt. They make their money if views and noting gets views like bad news or some kinda drama. So the bigger storm they can stir up the more people watch. Just sayin'.

I have the XL BTW...

That's assuming you don't consider the Samsung apps and launcher/UI "crapware" which I do. I refuse to buy from a carrier and be tied down in case they do something and their service sucks (Verizon did this in my area and I was stuck in a courage with crappy service for 18 months).

I enjoy the vanilla Android experience and I looked knowing I'm getting monthly security updates. That's why I purchase Pixels. The only other phone I would consider is there One+. Samsung lost my business years ago.
