Google, Samsung, Sprint investigate Nexus S Problems

this phone is terrible. i just got the airave sent to my house an supposedly i am supposed to have full coverage but..I DON'T!! one bar, two bars at most and they are white not even green. my phone drops calls all the time and also deletes my photos. this is a poor excuse for a smart phone. i can only sync google accounts, can't sync facebook even when i downloaded the friends sync app it still won't sync, nor can i sync any other non google accounts i have. So disapointed in the terrible picture quality and horrible reception when i do actually get it as well. i had the evo shift 4g and it was way more user friendly..wish i still had it but it broke and when they replaced it in the store they told me they didn't have the evo in stock and gave me the nexus. i took it because i needed a phone asap for work related reasons and now i am stuck with this plastic immitation smartphone. i got ripped off :'(

Holy crap, now that's a rant. haha. Aside from maybe some poor reception pockets, I've had NONE of the problems you mentioned above. Maybe you just have a lemon.

how did you get ripped off?

and your time would have been better spent asking them for a replacement instead of typing this rant. as has been said, most of those issues arent normal, including the signal issues WITH an airave.

facebook doesnt sync but there are apps that help with that.

what non google accounts do you want to sync?

yeah, i'll never understand why people will just stay with a non-working phone and about it but never think to return/exchange it.

+1 on returning it for a replacement... Thats what you have TEP/warranty's for... Take it down there and tell them it just doesn't perform as listed and the troubles your having... Most likely within a day or two you will have a refurb sitting in your hands.

Hi, I am having problems with mine. It was fine the first week it will be 14 days this coming Monday.

The phone works fine but past few days it will lose all bars and has a "x" on top of the bars and I have to reboot the phone and then it searches for signal and finds it.

Is it a bad phone? should I return it and get another one? I bought it from Wirefly.

Sounds like you got a lemon.

Anyway, the stock email app works fine for me with Gmail, yahoo, and comcast... no sync problems at all. Are you trying to use the Gmail app to sync with non-gmail accounts? As far as I know, you can't do that.

Why WOULDN'T you exchange it? Do you really want to roll the dice on this one for the next two years?

It could very well be a problem with Sprint in your area for the time being, but good luck diagnosing that.

I have the same problem.

Swapping your phone won't help, I have tried another Nexus S, same issue.
I even have the same issue on an Optimus S occasionally, but not as often.

The problem is that the phones get confused when using the Airave.

Does your problem go away when you have your Airave powered off for days?

With mine, the signal bars are there, but they stay white, don't go green. I think green means that the data is being used.

I'm switching to T-Mobile soon, seeing what happens with the Nexus Prime with them.
The Airave is terrible, causes all sorts of issues.

Chud do you have the nexus s 4g? how is your signal? I am going to stock as we speak so i can take it to sprint to check it out. or is that a waste of time? I already have my return ready to go for wirefly.

Yes I have one. It's not as good signal wise as my Verizon phones were, but that's to be expected, but it's definitely better than my Palm Pre on Sprint was. I get signal in places with the Nexus that I didn't with the Pre. Outside, I have no problems whatsoever.

Ok thanks. The signal on my plan was actually better I had 4 or 5 bars all the time. On the nexus s 4g I have 1 or 2 every time. At times it just jumps to full bars and then back down.. smh. I am just going to exchange for another nexus s. Let's hope it is better and doesn't lose signal completely.

I admit I was apprehensive about this phone cause of threads like this but...after 2 Weeks I couldn't be happier. Fast. Camera works great. No signal problems what so ever and sprints coverage around me is marginal to ok. I have service every where my optimus did and even some places I didn't. Battery life if awesome right now i'm on the end of a 30 + hr off charger day. I think you probably have a lemon



The green signal bars mean you are synced with google.

Like he said above you it just means you're connected to Google's servers when it's green. Things like Google Talk won't work but everything else like the phone and texting and web browsing will.

I have not found to be the case.

When the bars are white, can't use any data. The only operations that work are SMS/voice.
The 3G symbol (or the 1x) isn't there either.

When I reboot the phone, it all works. I tried turning off/on data. Tried airplane mode, on/off. The reboot is all the fixes this problem. sucks.
