Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Until Google announces something, these are all still rumors. Anyone can come on here and say they've seen/held it.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

5'9 is too big, I hope they offer it in a lower size too, or at least keep the Nexus 5 as an option

I also love people saying this ISN'T the new Nexus X.... Unless you actually work for Google or Motorola and are directly involved in the Nexus program or the Moto G/X/S line it's hard to say what is what until it's announced.... I am guessing we will start seeing a TON of leaked images in the upcoming weeks..... Probably be like the Nexus 5... Tons of leaks and a quick "Here it is" announcement from Google...

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Something doesn't sit right here... If this was, indeed, a Nexus device, then it would most likely not have that big ol' Motorola logo sitting there... it'd be a Nexus/Google logo... I know it is easy to change, but there's not a lot of benefit to that.

Personally, this screams to me to be Android Silver v2.0... they will be Nexus devices, but the OEM will take a little more prominent role; the HTC Nexus 9, the Motorola Nexus 6 (or whatever). Heck.... for all we know, LG could be readying a Nexus 5 replacement, using the LG G3 Cat 6 (805/420) as its base but with a 5.2" screen and released as the "LG Nexus 5". Yes, they've disavowed all knowledge of doing another Nexus, but they did that with the 5, so I wouldn't put much weight into those comments.

I mean, there have been tons of rumors of a 5.2" device kicking around, benchmark numbers that have popped up, etc.... why would Motorola and Google go through the trouble of creating a 5.2" version of a 5.9" phone, benchmark it, etc.... and NOT plan to sell it? With rumors of the Nexus 5 going out of production, that leads me to believe that we're going to be getting a PHONE sized replacement. Phablets are all the rage, but the S5/G3/M8 sized stuff is still the workhorse. So there could be another player in the game here.

Seems to me that Google REALLY wants to make a splash with the release of the next version of Android... wouldn't unveiling it running on three killer new devices, cause quite a ruckus? A phone, phablet and tablet Nexus (Nexi? heh)

People forget that when the first prototype leaks of the N4 (and of the N5 I believe) were out, there was no Nexus or Google logo(or otherwise hidden) on the back. Also every iteration of the Nexus always had the OEM logo on the back (although not as pronounced).

Android Police had some convincing speculation on why this particular device might have turned out to be a Nexus. Android Silver at one point was going full steam ahead and as a result, the Nexus phones were to be axed. Probably why Evan from Evleaks had said there was no Nexus 6 earlier in the year. Then Android Silver lost its steam internally, the guy coordinating the effort leaves Google, and now Google has to scramble for a Nexus device. Moto's upcoming phablet, which might have been for Android Silver at one point, was picked as the next Nexus reference device along with the HTC tablet.

Although it's pure speculation, it makes sense to me. It will be nice to have three devices of varying sizes to launch at the same time.

Right... I know that LG still had branding on my Nexus 5, but it was understated... On these pics, that Motorola logo is hard to miss.

Of course, the FINAL product might look quite different and we might see something more Nexus-ified at release. But I'm still hung up on those 5.2" benchmarks. It seems unlikely to me that Google would abandon the 'small' phones for phablets and tablets.... The CEO gushed about how they were so pleased with the Nexus 5's success, why leave all that behind?

Please have a 5.2" version on Verizon.....

With it basically looking like a blown up Moto X they could have that M logo still on there just to at least attempt to mask and throw the scent off the trail... People could just say "Oh no... It's just a 2014 Moto X." Considering the Moto X is pretty vanilla Android with very little in the way of tweaks or skinned software on top of base Android a "Pure edition" Moto S/Shamu with these specs would also be fine by me..

With Android L support for 64 bit processing I would have guessed the next Nexus would sport a 808 or 810 processor (if they are even ready for mass production in a device yet) to show off the full power of "L"

oh well..... I have a feeling we are about to see a massive wave of "Leaks" and "Rumors" in the next couple of weeks....

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Didn't shamu show up in bug reports with a Google built kernel? That should be the biggest tip that it is a Nexus or a former android silver device. Has any other manufacturers shown up with bug reports or even benchmarks running Android L? (aside from N9) With the way everything leaks these days it's hard to believe someone could avoid being detected while still testing the device.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

I don't think this is the next nexus. Probably Moto S

Looks like the Motorola Nexus phone is the 32-bit Android L launch device and the HTC Nexus tablet is the 64-bit Android L launch device.

5"-5.5 that's it any bigger is too big. Its a phone if I need something 6" plus I'll get another tablet.. My nexus 5 will do everything I need till see something decent at 5"

I don't know if I will sell my nexus 5 for this, I think I'll wait a few reviews first...

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

All the info we are seeing is different . 1st it was as 5.2 then 5.95 and that shot showed 5.85. All of the shots are from bench marks so the screen size should be the same. We have also seen leaks for the 805 and the 810. There aew clearly more than 1 model being tested
