Hey guys,
My names Oliver and I work for a company called Expert Shield in the UK. Yes, we make screen protectors but don’t worry this isn’t a sales pitch.
I’ve read all the comments in the feed and I can answer a few questions been thrown around.
For those people who are worried that a screen protector will make your devices screen feel different – making it feel ‘clothed’ and not natural – then you are worrying unnecessarily. All good screen protectors (And by good I don’t mean the 10 for ?/$1 ones you find on Ebay) won’t affect the feel of your device. In most cases you won’t actually be able to tell if you have one on or not, that’s the mark of a good protector.
This point is the same for those of you worried about clarity. If you buy a good protector then this won’t be affected. If you’re clarity is then you should consider returning the item.
As for anti-glare, you will get a loss of clarity to some extent because of the material that they are made from. With anti-glare the purpose of them is to reduce glare to enable you to see your screen better. But when there isn’t glare around your screen will have a matte look.
Now, to address the original question in the forum –
The new S4 will come with Gorilla Glass 3, but do we still need screen protecters?
Yes, Gorilla Glass is strong, resistant and looks great, however it isn’t indestructible (As much as most marketing and sales campaigns claim it to be). Adding a screen protector to it will enhance its ability to stay scratch free and smash free.
I have an iPhone 4S, so I know that Gorilla Glass is great, but I did manage to scratch it, drop it and then smash it. Then after getting told it would cost ?150 to replace the screen on my insurance I got a screen protector for my new screen.
Okay, so some screen protector’s might cost ?/$15+ (ours cost around ?6-12 - $10-$15 dependant on the model) which might seem expensive but if your device costs ?/$150 or more then surly adding a bit of extra protection is worth it, no?
Plus it’s a damn sight cheaper than replacing your devices screen or paying out the insurance to do so – which is the real scam.
However, if you are still adamant that the ‘no screen protector crowd’ is the one to be in then that’s fine, it’s your device and money, but when (not if) you drop/damage/scratch/smash your device then you’ll suddenly realise the benefits of a screen protector.
