Got my HTC Evo yesterday ask if you have any questions!

I know you have discussed the size and weight already, but can you be a little more specific.

How does it display notifications, what happens when you receive a text or email. How does the calender app compare to the Pre? Can you charge with the device off? All I have to compare it to is my pre.

you can a notification on top instead of the buttom and u slide your finger down from top to buttom to open the notification area and you can see all you notifications there, and when you click on them it takes you to the app representing each notificationg. Very similar to the pre. As far the calendar app I like the way the calendar app looked better on the pre but on the Evo it functions better and its extremely fast unlike the Palm Pre, and yes you can charge the phone with the device off.

+1
Say in regular jeans.

Today is the first day I have actually put the phone in my Jeans going to work and I have to say no problem at all it actually feels smaller then my Palm Pre cause its so thin. Keep in mind that I am a 6 foot 2 inch tall guy, but to me in my pocket it feels smallr then both my Palm Pre and HTC Hero.

Can you be specific as what do you want to know. The main thing about the phone size is that it really doesn't feel like a clunker. Its so thin that it really makes the phone fairly decent in size. I was actually expecting it would be bigger.

Hey man, thanks for all the info you have provided so far, I do however have a question or 2.

1) I know you get 7 home screens, lets say you go to a screen that is not the main center home screen and then lock the phone, when you unlock it does it come back to that screen or does it go back to your main home screen? Kinda like if i had a sports widget on home screen 3 and wanted to come right back to it to check scores instead of leaping.

2) How are the social networks, like Facebook for HTC, and Twitter working, have you tried the widgets out of them? I assume Friendstream is probably too hard to use for all networks.

Thanks for your help, can't wait to get mine on the 4th!

how about when it rings and u taking out of pocket .. sending call to v/m or picking up by accident might be an issue ... i see so many case options out there but not that many case/holster combo options .. not to many options to carry the device

Now that you have the Evo....what's the one thing you miss most from the Pre? My guess would be the cards/multitasking.

I have an EVO also... I didnt read this entire thread but here some observations...

I have had it for 3 days and my battery life has been very very good.
Led notifications, I have seen, green for email and text.. blue for missed call, orange for charging
HTC sense is VERY NICE... but its a little buggy... there is some choppiness when doing some actions in the sense widgets... there also seems to be some freezing when you install a app and try to do something else at the same time... this doesnt happen on my nexus one..

Size is GREAT.. feels good in my pocket... screen is nice and big! But I wish they made it a higher res... the icons seems huge to me!

Blue for missed calls? Wow that's cool!

Has any of you lucky early Evo owners tried to copy a movie from a commercial dvd to your evo using handbrake? BigChris posted a link in the forum that teaches all the basics about your Evo, just wondering if it really is as easy as they made it out to be. I tried the same instructions using handbrake with my pre but was never successful, the movie showed up looking all weird.

Whatever screen you're on it will open back on that screen and not on the home screen.

Well I use programs like the facebook app and twitdroid not really a fan of the widget for those things.

Yap you will love it.

well just had it activated under my line today, was using the free service until today so nobody called me before, will report back on this.

Yap definatelly the cards and actually that is about the only thing I miss notifications I actually prefer on Android cause they don't take up any screen space.

Ok but when you get a text does it still display the message on the screen? lets say when the phone is sitting there idle how do you know you got a message and from what?

i am speaking from the hero which i had same OS .. if u use default messaging app .. it says the message above the lock screen ... says person and time and i think part of message ... whatever fits .. but if u decide to use a 3rd party messaging app like handcent sms ... which makes it look like the iphone .. messaging bubbles then u wont see anything on your lock screen ... but there is a popup for sms messages that u can configure .. it will automatically unlock your phone if u want and u will see popup with message
