Got some Droid X time!!!

The camera on the Droid X is amazing, when recording video, my friend and I were trying as hard as we could to make the thing get choppy and it just wouldn't, but I also know that the pictures are not as good as the ones on the iPhone, but who cares really? It's a cell phone cam with a software problem, I'm willing to be that "Theres an update for that".

As for pictures being "shaky" I know the camera button has an auto focus feature like a large camera that requires you hold the button for some time, but if you just press and let go, it snaps the pic rather fast and that results in unfocused "and kind of crappy" photos.

I saw on another thread you asked about how it felt in hand, the phone is by no means cheap feeling, think 'original Driod with a less cold metal feeling'

Is there a way to "turn off" the motoblur or use the stock android launcher? I'm not a fan of android skins. If not I might just have to use ADW or Launcher pro....

Like I said before, they're just widgets, if you don't want them, don't keep them on the home screen and you will never seem them except in your widgets list when you go to add a new one to the desktop.

How is the cursor placement?

There is no optical joystick (like Incredible) or arrow keys (like EVO), but I did see something that looked like the iPhone zoom mode in one of the review videos. Is that on all the text fields (I think the video only showed it in messaging app)?

Is the browser the stock Android browser or something customized by Moto (I think HTC has customized theirs)? Specifically, is there dynamic text wrapping at any zoom level (i.e. zoom in any amount, and you still don't have to scroll horizontally)?

Just like in the Droid1, when you double tap after pinch to zoom in, it wraps the text... I guess a better way to say that is in steps..

1. Pinch to zoom to desired text size.
2. Then double tap the screen and it focus's the paragraph as well as wraps the test.

The question was a joke, but besides wondering if I will look like a dork carrying something that big around with me, the bootloader is my 2nd biggest concern. The former is something only I will know when I get it, and the latter we'll have to see about.

several years ago, I almost bought a Treo smartphone.....and I held back because everyone who used one looked like they were holding a scientific calculator to their head during conversations.

I sure hope the DX doesn't give off the calculator vibe!!!


EDIT: just looked the DX size in comparison to a Treo 650......the DX is about 1/2" longer and a 1/4" wider than the Treo....but the DX is less than half the thickness of the Treo. So, the DX shouldn't be too big at all. I saw tons of people rockin' the Treos back in 2004-2006.

I live 5 blocks away from a corporate store. Maybe I'll walk over and see for myself. I get a little embarrassed going in there now though. They all recognize me as the guy that has to have every single phone that somes out.

LOL, the guys at my local Best Buy think I'm nuts as well as I jumped from At&t to Sprint and then to Verizon chasing phones over a period less than 2 years. When I bought the Droid and returned to get my discount the mobile guy sees me coming and goes:"Oh no, please don't tell me you hate your Droid."

Ain't nothing wrong with that. That actually helped me get a blackberry tour last year for 1 year price and the Droid earlier for a one year price as long as I bought accessories lol. My contract has been pushed back a total of 3 months. Lets see if it works this time around lol.

LOL too funny!! I do the same thing. When I bought my EVO, I was really hoping the Sprint store I went to wouldn't remember me. Of course, the rep looked at me and said, hey weren't you in here about 7 months ago buying the Touch Pro 2? I think I turned a few shades of red.
