And I was impressed. Ran very smooth and the screen blows the N7 away. Along with the speakers. Amazon really outdid themselves. Almost walked out of Best Buy with one today. I'm keeping my N7, getting my wife the new Fire HD, and giving my wife's og Fire to my kids. Guess what, no screen separation either! I like native Google too much to dump the Nexus but man with features like HDMI out I'm tempted to root with CM10 and call it a day!

I have heard good things about the display. However every review I've seen comparing the two still calls the nexus 7 the better tablet.

I think it depends on what you'd use it for. I like my Nexus a lot but really only use it for the things that the Fire HD can do. Build quality is noticeably better on the Fire. The Nexus is more powerful internally and of course runs native JB which is better.

Yep, every review I've seen comparing the two always says the N7 is ultimately better but the KHD is a nice bit of kit. If you live on Amazon content then it sould be a no brainstorm which one to get.

For me, native JellyBean unmolested by manufacturers is just too good to give up to get a free book a month from the Kindle Lending Library when I can get all the other Amazon content on my N7 without their locked down old version of Android. IJS.

Still No go for Kindle Fire.
List out features that Nexus can do and Kindle cant. --- A lot
List out features that Kindle can do and Nexus cant. ---very very few

be that as it may (re your take on the screen), N7 is FAR more capable. Amazon doesn't offer a full android experience. because of that, I wouldn't consider buying one, no matter how pretty the screen might be.

A rooted Fire HD would give you that, plus the awesome screen, awesome speakers, HDMI out, and a better build quality. I plan on having both the Nexus and the Fire HD. Once CM10 is put non the Fire I think we will see its true potential.

I n the land of magic and fairies and leprechauns and unicorns, this is true. however, in the real world, it doesn't work out that neatly. I had the original Kindle Fire, and was told the same thing about rooting it. but after I rooted it, there were still many, many apps from the play store that would not run on it. R ooting also put a hit on the battery life, which already kind of sucked. plus I noticed several general stability and performance issues, such as random crashes that happened more often after it was rooted. I much prefer keeping my already great Nexus 7and having the superior tablet without the headaches of rooting.
