GS3 Bluetooth paired but can't send pic over to PC ???

Hi,

I suffered the same issue when trying to transfer pics from my Galaxy Note 3 to Win 7 64 bit Laptop (HP), after a few hits on the web I found this cure.

Follow this after you successfully pair your Phone and PC (never mind a couple of Bluetooth Driver errors I had the same one but file sharing in either direction works fine):

First of all go to "Devices and Printers" ---> Bluetooth Devices --> Double Click your Phone (This should open the "Blue Tooth Device Control" window).

Scroll down to "Authorisation" Options--> Check "Always allow this device to connect for all operations"
Click "Apply"
You can close this window now.

Now on your Windows 7 Task Bar's Notification Area (Bottom Right Corner of your Screen) you should usually see Bluetooth Icon
(Note: If you don't see this Bluetooth icon in notification area you can go to Control Panel and search "Bluetooth" and you will find link "Change Bluetooth Settings")
Right Click on the "Bluetooth" icon in your notification area of Windows Taskbar--> select "Open Setting"-->"Bluetooth Settings" window should pop up-->Make sure on the "Options" tab: All items are checked except "Turn off Bluetooth adapter" this must be unchecked otherwise your Bluetooth adapter will switch off.
Now, in the same window go to "Share" tab--> Check the box "Allow remote device to browse, send and receive pictures, music, and other files".
Click OK to close this window

That's it try sending file from either your phone or pc it should work.

Note: Please select a folder in the above dialogue box to where you want the files (other than pictures, music or videos) to land on your PC. For some reason (we can all thank windows 7 for that annoying behaviour again...) the pictures from your mobile will land in "Pictures" folder in your documents library on your pc, similarly music and video files will land in the respective library folders on windows 7.

I have instant upload to Dropbox (and Google) so that's my easiest way to get photos on your PC.

And vice versa.

And ? when mobile ? it's the easiest and cheapest way to send public links to those photos to whoever you like instead of sending them the entire photo files. Saves a lot of data on your monthly dataplan.

I'm having the same issue with my Galaxy S4 and microsoft surface tablet that runs windows 8.1 RT version. Were any solutions found?

Ha ha FIXED IT ! Had the same problem. Fix: Make sure all the normal B tooth configs are done. Make sure that the devices are paired and that you can SEND from PC to phone. Now go to bottom right of task bar, click "Show hidden Icons" Right click the Blue th Icon. A menu will appear. On my machine "allow a device to connect" is greyed out, so THAT was why I could send only. However "Receive a file" IS available, so click it, send the file from your phone y ya esta ! First attempt it half worked, but then it worked properly and has ever since.
So is this a bug ? We have the annoying Win 8 app to set B tooth configs and we have c panel to set up BT configs. Both were fine. So why is "allow device to connect" not available ? Why is "receive file" so well hidden. Why does windows not know about this ? The answer I guess is Microsoft.... and the confusion over weather 8.1 is a phone or pc os - Thanks guys Oh and if anyone can sort out the "allow to connect" availability please post.

You may have figured it out already, but just in case. If you have Windows 8.1 you have to click on the bluetooth icon in the icons at the right end of the taskbar and then click receive a file. From there follow the directions. I haven't found any way to make it automatic. I figure it's a security risk to have it set to automatic so now they don't allow that. Hope this helps you.

Win 8.1 upgrade on asus i7, go to bluetooth icon on bottom right of screen, click on receive file after having paired and completed settings. Very annoying, but receive file will work for multiples docs as well.

Just spend yet another hour on live chat to Dell about my 5537 laptop that connects to my Bluetooth devices but doesn't receive the files sent.
They informed me that it a software issue and somebody will phone me tomorrow to try and resolve the issue I have no faith in them whatsoever as this has been going on since June 2014 when I purchased the laptop.
I tried the above but when I click on the Bluetooth icon there is no 'receive file' option
Trying to send pictures from my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to my laptop, it was working a few weeks ago but not now, although I have recently had the Tablet upgraded to Kitkat 4 so not sure if that is the issue although the tablet sends and received from my mobile phone but not to the laptop

It's normally an issue with the BT stack (the software that handles what BT can do) in the computer. Some stacks don't allow audio, some don't allow file transfer, etc. Unfortunately, there's no way to get a really good BT stack legitimately - the companies that write them sell them to hardware manufacturers, so they come with certain BT hardware. The default Windows BT stack has always been, shall we say, a little lacking (for ginormous values of "a little").

But do you know anyway to solve my issues? It was working a few weeks ago but when they changed the Video driver it all seemed to go wrong yet cured the other problems with the laptops software

Hi Friends, i have sorted it this problem by following simple method.

Try Like this, if it works out give a thumps Up

1) GO to setting in your mobile and choose Blue tooth setting, then remove the pairing if u already done it
2) Make sure that in your mobile u have chosen " Bluetooth Visibility option" Enable
3)Then go to mobile Gallery or Content which you wanted to transfer it to your Desktop or Laptop
4) Then use the mobile option send through Bluetooth.
5) At the same time go to Desktop or Lapi Click on the small icon which is their in Taskbar (Bluetooth Icon) Right Click on that and select a option that Receive a file
6) when u choose this option automatically in your phone it detects the device( USB Bluetooth ) and gives the name in the searched list
7) Click on the B T device name to Transfer the file..
8) Finally u can see the file processing in ur desktop or Laptop screen
9) Last , it asks u to choose the saving location, choose that..!
10) Finally in that location ur transferred file will be their.

Hello good people, I have the same problem, but I don't even have the "receive a file" option when I right click the Bluetooth icon. It worked just fine a few days ago but now my Note 3 always says "sending failed".

I tried it while paired, unpaired, rebooted laptop, rebooted phone but no change. i can send files from laptop to Note 3 just fine but not from laptop to phone. (I'm on windows 8.1 and android 4.4.2)

Bluetooth has many options available, some implemented on some devices, some not. A device can send pictures but not receive them, receive them but not send them, use a BT earphone but not the mic, etc., etc. It depends on the BT software in the device. The version of Windows or Android doesn't decide, it's the functions the company writing the Bluetooth software put into it that does. (The stock Windows BT stack is one of the least-featured ones out there.) If your laptop doesn't have the "receive a file" function, it can't receive a file via Bluetooth without file transfer software (MyPhoneExplorer, File Transfer, etc.) - whih is taking the place of the missing function in the stack. (I wrote a scathing review about a $2 BT adapter I bought because the vendor refused to acknowledge that the reason I couldn't use audio both ways with his adapter was the fault of the BT headset, not the software he supplied. I've written enough BT stacks to know he was full of enough hot air to lift the Earth to Andromeda.)

I found out the culprit on my laptop ...I had a bluetooth related process disabled on startup...I enabled it, restarted the laptop and BT now works like a charm.

I have a new Samsung laptop ATIVA Book-9 NP940X5J, and I had forgotten that I disabled "btmshellex.dll" at start-up, and that's why I wasn't getting an "Receiving Files...Remote device is sending you files" accept/reject" option when I would go to send my pic(s) from my Samsung S-3 phone to my laptop. My problem was that the file wouldn't even begin to send, as the progress bar wouldn't even show it trying to send the file on my phone; Only, it would take a while for me to get an "error message", informing me that the file didn't get sent, yet after numerous tries, and seeing it work on my desktop just fine, I knew something wasn't right, b/c why would it work on my desktop, but not on my new laptop?

After reading all these helpful threads here, and seeing this previous post about one person "enabling something on his start-up options" on his computer, that got me to investigate my own start-up settings, and that's when I saw that "btmshellex.dll" was disabled, and that's why my laptop wouldn't recognize or allow the file's transmission from my phone.

I'm sure other people's "blue-tooth issues" may be different for this particular problem, but I'm grateful for all the collective knowledge and experience here, b/c I was able to discover my particular problem/issue. Thanks everyone, b/c this forum has saved my **** more times than I can count, on a number of different issues, such that I felt obligated to make this first post, so I could share too, and hopefully give someone else struggling to find an answer to his/her problem, a SOLUTION!

ps: I know many here have said to click on the blue-tooth icon in your computer's tray, and then hit the "receive transmission" option, but I only have the greyed-out "allow a device to connect", and I don't see an option either for "allowing a device to receive". Again, it was only when I enabled "btmshellex.dll" at start-up, that I finally would get a separate box asking me if I wanted to accept a file transmission. Good-Best of Luck to All, with this problem, in whatever form you may be experiencing it! Amen!

Using the "Receive a File" option from the Bluetooth icon in the system tray was genius. It worked the very first time I tried it after MANY tries doing it the normal way I would have thought would work.
NOTE:: I could send a pic from my PC to my phone, but not visa/versa, which is what I really needed to do, so this is great. It works for me -- and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hi everyone, for me, the problem is even more weird than that all of you have been facing.

In my case, my phone is transferring the text files to laptop but not the images. It was working perfectly alright till a few days back, and I have done absolutely no change anywhere be it phone or the laptop.

The operating system of my laptop is Windows 07 profesional, and phone, Android 4.2.1.

What to do?

I have a Note 4,and had the same problem. I was able to send files from the laptop to the phone,but not vica versa.
Tried and looked everywhere and eventually found a solution that worked for me at least.
Phone was paired,I had removed and repaired it and reinstalled the drivers,rebooted both the phone and the laptop,etc.etc.etc.Still no success.
Eventually I located the bluetooth icon on the bottom of the task bar,left clicked it and when the scroll down menu appeared,clicked on receive files.
Previously I had done something similiar on the laptop and a screen appeared stating it was waiting for files and would begin once a file was sent,that sort of led me in the direction I ended up at.
WhaLa. Once I clicked the receive files on the laptop I once again sent the files I had been trying to for the last four days and they magically began to work.
I did not have this issue until I downloaded Windows 10,the New and improved,supposedly greatest thing since sliced bread.One would think that when the develop new software they would ensure NOT the break the parts that were fine to begin with. If we wanted to spend a good part of our day playing computer techs,one would think we would get a job in that field.
