Guess I'm going to leave AT&T if we don't get 6.0 by the end of the month.

Kind of curious if there will even be a S7A now that the standard S7 is IP68? I am an ATT customer, but if there is an S7A, it needs to be on all carriers to get attention/updates.

That's a good question. Unless Samsung puts together a screen like the Droid Turbo 2 (Crack and shatterproof) and retains the 3500 mah battery, there is really no reason to. I'd say that IP68 and up will be standard on all Galaxy flagship models from now on. There is no need to make a device with a "rugged design" if it doesn't have increased durability (including the screen).

When I look at the S6Active and all of its advertising, I can't help to think, "This is the phone for:
  • Construction workers
  • Hikers, those who kayak, mountain bikers and such
  • Those who spend a ton of time outdoors and near water
  • People who value durability and functionality over aesthetics

Does anyone have any information on the update? All the articles that I have read do not reference the active version of the s6 galaxy.

I told you that it's coming. Consider that fact. Articles don't mention the S6 Active because it's not a flagship phone and is exclusive to AT&T, so it's not relevant to 99.9% of readers since S6 Active users make up a very very very very tiny number of current Samsung phone users. The S6 Active ROM is derived from the AT&T S6 ROM because of their shared internals, so the S6 Active gets a slightly revised version of the S6 ROM with minor bugfixes and tweaks. Just be patient and you'll be happy.

S5 was IP67 and there was still an S5 Active. My guess is there will be an S7 Active again this year.

I hope they do & waiting to see if it happens. Just cannot see how they sell enough to justify a specific change in design.

I agree with you, it is difficult to see enough sold to justify the phone itself, at the same time, it is an AT&T exclusive, and they sell enough for AT&T to keep asking Samsung for them.

Cute thread. :-)
. . Sadly, however, it's true -the Active is always the last to be updated. . . . but five months is ridiculous. The Galaxy S5 is getting M now!

the S7 active is incoming as it has been getting tested by At&t.
Updates are the only thing that is keeping me from drooling about the S7 Active. The S6A has been a great phone for me, but I hesitate to get another 'niche' phone.

I hear you as i have opted out of carrier branded phones because of lack of updates and this planned way of upgrading they have built in from some of these OEM's called upgrade to a new device. LG, Samsung, HTC, and etc could easy tell these phone companies that no blocking of updates and flex their muscle. But since it makes them money they won't do it and just push the next updated phone the next year and thats how you get the next OS update.......buy a new phone. They have lost their everloving minds. The S6 Active was the last Carrier device in my household as we won't put up with this crap anymore.

So now it's iPhones, Windows Phones, or Nexuses from here on out and no more of this garbage from the OEM's. Soon if Google doesn't act and get this sorted then i will probably say adios to Android for good as this has gone on far enough IMO. I'm not tied to any particular ecosystem like most and can use anyone of them to suit my needs just fine.

well the S6 Active decided to take a dump on itself today with screen and OS corruption(Lots of apps saying they have stopped working). Even a factory reset hasn't solved the problem. I will probably get around to reloading it in Odin but on the shelf it goes and it might be awhile before i get to it. Last carrier branded device in the household so I might just leave it be and give it a good hammer beating death.

S6 Active has been replaced by Samsung and now i have loaded a recent build of 6.0.1 MM with May 1, 2016 Security patch on to it. Has wifi calling it seems as well

I don't get how you have 6.0 on your S6 Active, has Samsung even released a 6.0 version software for the Active? I've actually given up on my S6 Active getting updated past 5.1.1

AT&T is testing 6.0 for release and the active will get updated. I just pulled some of the test builds from the server.

The S7 Active waddles into stores next month, so we'll likely get the 6.X update for the S6 Active at the end of this month or sometime next month. I only hope it comes in a 64GB model off the bat.
