I'm attempting to flash from cwm and I've completed step 3 but when I choose my kernel/voodoo, it takes me to screen that says "choose a zip to apply" and the only option is - logs/ ...is this correct?

I'm a little lost. Step three of what?

sorry, I was following the voodoo lagfix steps on how to voodoo

If you don't have a basic understanding of what clockworkmod recovery is and are using it for the first time, I would suggest you stay away from voodoo. Why are you trying to go to voodoo anyway?

no good reason, I just read that it seemed to add a little extra zip to the phone so I thought I'd try it

To be honest, voodoo isn't much of a difference on 2.2 at this point. Until the kernel source is released, there isn't much modification that can be done to the kernel to get the best performance (ie. Voodoo color/sound, overclocking and undervolting, etc)

Hey Kevin. Congrats on the Mod status. A bunch of us were just PMing with each other saying we were hoping the usual suspects in this forum stick around as we all get along really well and work well together to make the Fascinate forum so great. I added in your name, Chris3D, and Ytaay as members I hoped stuck around for a long time on the SF forum, and BOOM, next day you are a mod.

"Flash cwm_odin_all, or odin one of droidxcon's packages. Once you've got CWM up and running then you can just flash whatever you've got laying around on your card"

ok so i can flash clockworkmod to my phone, and then for future roms, i can flash them in cwm.... that way i dont have to connect my phone to the pc everytime i want to install a new rom. ??? because on my old droid x, i just purchased a bootlader from the market ( because it has a locked bootloader) then once i was in cwm recovery, we could just flash a rom from the sd card...

maybe it's me misunderstanding but, it sounds like we have to download and inststall cwm...i guess i assumed since it didnt have a locked bootloader like moto, we could just boot into recovery and flash roms from there...

and whats the difference in red and blue recovery? is red actually cwm, and blue just recovery? cant flash in recovery, have to be in cwm?

please advise

You got it. Odin to install CWM. Then CWM is the ticket for almost everything.

CWM comes in several flavors, nicknamed for the color of their text:
-CWM Orange - Don't bother with it. Was being used while some devs were playing with edify scripts.
-CWM Green - old.
-CWM Red ALL (what I call it)- what you're going to need these days.

Blue recovery is just the stock recovery. Not a whole lot to be done in Blue.

My suggestion, just download Odin, flash CWM, then flash an already rooted ROM as stated before. Once you actually dig into it, I think you're going to find the Fascinate a little easier and more forgiving than the Droid.

great, sounds easy, so one question, where can i find cwm red? (i already have odin installed on my pc, i used it to flash froyo...)

As suggested DroidXcon made it super easy (I was bit nervous and while you are experienced I'd still suggest doing it this way - why complicate things?). I'd suggest using one of his Odin packages onto your Fascinate which will root you and give you Red CWM. Then from there you can try other ROMs (although I'm loving SC2.9.1 - it's what I imagined this phone should have been from day 1 - now I'm in love)

Hey DizzyMaker, since you're new to the Fascinate, I should warn you to watch out for GunnerMike53.

He's been known to place frogs and such in his phone to see if they will make it work better.

lol. your so funny, but looks arent everything.

and the frog wouldnt fit smarty pants!:p

HAHAHA! Mike's claim to fame is using the phone button in Odin just for funsies. That and peddling SC 2.X like a crack dealer working at a middle school.

lol. It was an accident!! i swear!:p

To the best of my knowledge CM7 isn't available for the fascinate. CM6 has a barely alpha port, but no CM for us.

CM7 is in alpha. most of the hardware doesnt work. kaos is days from a HUGE update. cant wait.

Need some HELP please!

I did a factory reset on my phone to reflash my ROM and Theme (had to clean it up a bit). Backed everything up....

but my phone wont boot now.... Smamsung logo stays on the screen. I cant even boot into recovery....

can anyone help me get in the right direction... PLEASE!

Thank you!!

And please don't make multiple posts if you have problems, keep it all nice and tidy and people have a much easier time helping you and keeping track of what you've tried.

Edit: sorry, multiple threads.
