I'll ask the vital question though, how long did you wait for it to come back up? If you didn't flash anything, and wiped a bunch it can take 15 to 20 minutes for your phone to come back up because it has to rebuild tons of data infrastructure that you cleared out.

sorry about the repost.... was trying to start a separate thread, but I will keep it tidy.

I definitely didnt wait 15-20 minutes, I did not realize it would take that long. I did use odin to flash back to stock, but now I have CWM Blue which took me to Orange 3.0. Orange did not work when I tried to reflash 2.9sc, do I need to use red?

I've noticed after flashing sc and a theme, if I dio a factory reset my phone would never boot but I've always been able to get into recovery.

Ya, you'll need red. Find it here and you'll be back in biz.

i came across that problem or after doing a factory reset or installing sc that i would go to orange recovery. i had to end up erasing my cwm directory and flashing it with odin to get it to stop doing that.

Orange cwm can only come from one place, Rom Manager. It does not really work at all for the Fascinate right now, so don't touch Rom Manager until you see something here letting everyone know it is back to being functional.

do i have this right? root+flash process

Hi all,
just want to make sure ive got this down right.

1. root the phone via FascinateRoot_v02.zip.

2. backup thru titanium backup.

3. use odin to flash EB16SC29_DXC.tar.md5.

4. enjoy the facinate running SC 2.9 froyo.

thats it right?

i see mention about wiping data or cache but at what point do i do it or do i not need to worry about it since when i flash SC2 it'll wipe stuff?

I read somewhere that flashing roms doesn't replace kernels/modems ...but when you flash a rom, it comes with its own kernel correct? but it doesn't effect/replace the kernel you have @ the time of flashing?

I orig flashd s/c 2.9 voodoo, then I flashed the newest eb16vd with dummy tethering ..I started having prblms with an app(googlevoice) so I thought a wipe of everything and a reflash would fix it, so I reflashed sc2.9 but I'm not sure if I need to reflash the eb16vd kernel again ..just want to be sure before I try the tethering

In the case of DXC's odin packages they're a rom, and kernel rolled into one. Rom's can include kernels, but don't always.

They're available with the EB16 dummy tether kernel. If you want it back you can just flash the appropriate Odin package.

Great Guide and thanks

After a couple of months I finally took the plung last night and rooting my phone, and went with the EB16 package. Only a couple of issues, but I was able to work through them.

Since it was mid-night after I got it down, haven't really had a change to play with it yet. But now to debloat...

On a side note anyone know of how to get the SD card to not appear as a cd drive. Arrgh...

Had to email my self, and then download to the card.. Is there a rom or kernal that will change that..

Hi there, you guys have been great and I have done so much reading my head is going to explode at some point. I am at 2.9.2 non voodoo and am thinking of trying the EC10 Source Built ComaVolt TouchWiz from times_infinity (nonvoodoo). Not sure if I missed the obvious but what I am not sure of is how to install it. Is it installed from the zip file on the sdcard using CWM.

yes, you install via CWM from your SD card...

however, since you are going from a voodoo to a non-voodoo kernel, you have to DISABLE lagix in cwm first
