does instaling this cwm convert to ext4? (IE- can i use my old cwm3/ext4 zip for flashing roms, or is there a new "template" flash file i should be using???)

If you're talking about the blank template guide that Advisor Paul627g put together for the Epic 4G.. then yea, it should work on the Thunderbolt. CWM version 3.0 and above are all using the edify script. I'm not sure if that template he built is coded to only run on the Epic though. I would wait for Paul to get back to you on your question over at the Epic thread. He's the expert when it comes to that stuff.

haha yep. thats the one. Paul posted those a while back when he was helping me learn to theme my Epic. Still have copies of both sittin on my system. Ill just have to wait to hear from him :) thanks!

Re: Installing Radios

Installing Radios:
1) Download the radio file
2) If not already done... rename the file to PG05IMG (pg zero five img).
3) Place the PG05IMG.zip on the root of the phones SD Card (don't place it in any sub-folders)
4) Power your phone into hboot/bootloader.. (turn the phone off.. turn the phone back on by holding the power button and the volume down button at the same time until your phone starts up in hboot/bootloader).
5) You will be asked if you would like to install the PG05IMGzip.. choose YES with the volume up button.
6) The phone will take over from there and begin to unload the PG05IMG.zip onto your phone.
7) When completed you will be asked to reboot the phone.. choose YES.
8) You're done.

You can check that the new radio installed by going to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Info > Baseband Version (the numbers should match with the radio version that you just installed)
Example:
The Latest CDMA/LTE Radio Combo for Froyo:
CDMA Radio Version: 1.16.00.0402w_1
LTE Radio Version: 1.13.605.7

The Latest CDMA/LTE Radio Combo for Gingerbread (MR2.5):
CDMA Radio Version: 1.39.00.0528w
LTE Radio Version: 0.01.69.0602w_1

* delete or move the PG05IMG.zip from the root of the SD Card. (If not, you can run into some problems if you ever need to get to Recovery from hboot/bootloader) *

Common F&Q:
Do I install the radio through ROM Manager/ClockworkMod Recovery? No, radios need to be installed from HBOOT/Bootloader.
Will the MR2/MR2.5 radio work with Froyo ROMs? No, they are only compatible with Gingerbread ROMs or CyanogenMod 7 ROM (Reason: The leaked radio for the new Froyo OTA uses the new RIL, which was previously incorporated into the GB leak but not in the older Froyo releases. Thus, it works on the current GB roms but not on Froyo roms.
If I'm using a Gingerbread ROM with one of the MR2 radios and decide to go back to a Froyo ROM, do I need to change the radio also? Yes, if you decide to go back to a Froyo ROM, you will need to change the radio back also, it will not automatically get wiped from changing ROMs. (see the Obligatory Thunderbolt Radio thread for compatible Froyo radios)
So i have an error wean i try to load a .zip via clockworkmod v3.1.02. it will start to open the .zip then it says starting installation... installation aborted!!! what is going on. i cant fix it. Any ideas on fixes? any help would be awsome. thanks

It's probably a bad download- download the file again, check md5 sum, and try again.

Like Zero Neck said.. sounds like a bad download or the whole file didn't download... It happens with Google Chrome sometimes.. if that's what you're using. If so... try downloading the file with Internet Explorer and check the size of the file and make sure it matches the size of the download.

After installation which option in Titanium backup should be used to restore apps? There are five choices. Is restore missing apps with data correct or can system data be restored as a choice?

Restore apps with data is correct. Restoring system data is known to cause problems so I wouldn't do that. You can run the batch restore or you can restore each app one at a time or if the apps already on the phone.. just the apps data. I usually use MyBackup Pro for restoring sms, call log, etc... and use Launcher Pro which backs up my home screen settings along with using Titanium.

As Zero Neck mentioned the file can be placed anywhere as long as you know where its located. Its recommended to keep them on the root of the SD Card. I keep them in my download folder and never had any problems. So when booting into recovery.. I would navigate to >install from sd card > downloads > rom xxxx.zip. As for your question on where the root of the SD Card is... Its the main folder when you first open the SD Card... all the other folders after that are sub folders (android, data, downloads, media, my documents, etc...). You would place the zip file by itself with the rest of your sub folders.

Yes, its always a good idea to back up the stock rom first before flashing anything custom but here you go: This will wipe your phone back to factory setting including the stock rom but you will still have s-off and root access: [RUU] Rooted release stock ruu (For those reverting from leak) - xda-developers

Yes, in recovery. You could possibly get away with only clearing the two caches and not the data going from ROM example v3.1 to ROM example v3.2 without any problems but it's better to just wipe the data also so you don't take any chances of something screwing up. There's some related threads on the top of the first page on how to backup apps and settings that will make switching ROMs less of a hassle.

If you mean the RUU linked a few posts above, then yes, an RUU .zip file is renamed PG05IMG.zip and loaded in Hboot.

Check md5 first to make sure the file is not corrupted.

If you're referring to the link I posted for going back to the stock ROM... Then yes, pg05img file flashed in bootloader.... not recovery. Instructions are in the link.. make sure you rename the file from "pg05img_stock" to just "pg05img" and leave the file zipped.

Instructions for flashing the pg05img file are on the first page of this guide under "installing/flashing radios"
