Guide on data2ext!

What do you mean by this? What if say I wanted to create an ext partition size of 4 gb the recommended max is 1 gb do you know if any problems would occur or just what in general is so bad about it?

Because its rezising it so when u enter the code to rezise it mounts it on there ......probably. its best to keep it at 1g

Re: Help please data2ext.;)

But I want to know what will happen if its more than 1 gb say 4 gb which is the max partition size available on xionia recovery?

Basketthis, my /data/data directory doesn't seem to have moved. /data has 600mb free but /data/data only has 18? It does stop me from installing some apps (Scrabble and angrybirds seasons in market give me insufficient storage. If from Amazon no problem). Any idea on this? I would have thought the subdirectories would have moved with the master directory lol.

Are you rooted? You have to be running a ROM/kernel that supports the ext2/ext4 format. The only one that I know of that works with no issues by default is ath3nos cm7 gingerbread. Try it and flash the file then remember to data2ext --enable from terminal emulator then reboot and you should be good to go. Just flash the gingerbread and follow the link I posted. It will be clear what needs to be done. Then in your storage usage menu you will see 1/2/3gb. However much you partition will be your new internal memory. No more apps2sd! :) Hope that helps

It flashed properly on his cm7 build as referenced by the amount of available space in /data. Its just the /data/data directory. Can you look on your setup in the /data/data directory and let me know what size your showing?

My understanding is that it all is stored on the sdcard so I wouldn't worry about it... I'm not sure that it allocates space just for the /data/data folder, I think that folder is within the /data folder so it's automatically included.

Root explorer will give you directory size. Other explorer apps will too. There are various ways of finding directory sizes too.

Re: Help please data2ext.;)

Has anyone tried benchmarking their read and write speeds after doing data2ext? I'm getting slower speeds with my 16gb class 10 card but I guess that's just something I'll have to deal with.

What class sdcard u have on the 16g I'm pretty sure is class 2

I read up on some stuff about data2ext. It seems that the majority of people are saying data2ext2 is faster than data2ext4, but ext4 is more stable than ext2. Ext2 is faster in benchmark tests than ext4, but a lot of people say in real world situations there isn't much of a difference. So I guess you don't have to upgrade if you don't feel like it.
