Have the Tab S 10.5, ask me anything!

I just purchased 32gb it was an open box for 341. Question is I've been noticing I guess you would call it ghosting? Dark spots on the screen when I'm on net or anything that displays a white screen. It's not just on the edges but in the middle also. Went to best buy to ask about that issue and the Samsung rep said that was normal for this type of imagining due to the Amolode screen. Was she blowing smoke up my you no what? Otherwise I want to exchange it.

I'm fairly new to Android and I really don't know the terms for the various "windows" and/or similar. There's the page or pages that come up when I press the "Home" button. Then there are the page(s) that show up when I press the icon on the lower right (the grid of small squares) that shows ALL my apps. I guess I should get down the terms since, I've, too, asked questions and don't know how to refer to some of those THINGS!
Blimey! If you're new to Android and you helped with my posting, I'm seriously out of it.
Any tho' but. Here's what I think these things are called.
Pressing the button in the middle brings up the Home screen. I've also seen this referred to as the App Dock, becuase the Home screen has icons for frequently used Apps docked here. For example, Chrome has its icon here, but you can also find Chrome on the Apps screen (see later). There are three (I think) pages of Home screen which you access by scrolling left and right from the screen which appears when you press the button.
If you want to add icons to the Home screen (so you don't have to go looking for them on the Apps screen), find the app's icon on the Apps screen and touch and hold the icon. After a short while, the icon will 'float' and you can move it to one of your Home screens. To remove an icon (NOT the underlying app) from a home screen, touch and hold and a dustbin will appear at the top of the screen. Drag and drop the icon in the bin and it's gone from the Home screen. If you've made a mistake, you can always replace it using the Add icon to Home screen as described above.
The grid of squares is the icon to get to the Apps screens. These are screens which show the icons for all the apps which are available on your tablet.
When you are on the Home screen, at top right is a vertical line of squares. Tapping this takes you to Settings and from here you can hide or remove Apps icons from the Apps page. This helps tidy up the screens.
The return arrow should be self explanatory. It takes a screen back to the one before the current display.
The 'double window' touch icon displays all the apps that are currently active. It also offers the Task Manager, but since everything I've tried with the Task Manager results in a warning that 'stopping an app can cause a misfunction' or some such warning, I don't use it. I discovered (by accident) that when on this screen, if you swipe an app icon upwards (ie towards the main part of the display) it closes the app. Much easier than faffing about with Task Manager.
No doubt as an 'AndroidNewbie' I've got some of this wrong, but I hope it helps somewhat.
Cheers, and all the best to you and all forum members for a good new year.

Thanks and especially for the SWIPE up to close a specific app rather than dealing with the Taskmanager (I ignore its dire warnings!!!!)

Also TaskManager shows apps that are not necessarily shown in the "running apps"

Hmm. I would go back to a best buy and check out their model. I just went to a very white webpage and I don't noticed what I think you are talking about. I had the screen quite dim but just upped the brightness to FULL and I don't see it. If their Samsung rep is there, I'd show the unit to them and point out what you are seeing it (if they did not see the unit when you first asked).

Are you also having the problem where certain apps (like yahoo weather) are only opening in verticle mode? This is happening to me and it's weird because I don't even like using my screen in the verticle position so I don't even enabe screen rotation. It's just when I click the app, it will open in a verticle orientation and if I flip the tablet it will just flip.

Which carrier do you have? Verizon has an app called Verizon messages which is great for texting on the tablet. Also your Tab S is compatible with Sidesync. Is maybe your S3 not compatible??

Thanks for the reply, you are right i misspoke when i said that tab s is not compatible with sidesync, it is the s3 that does not offer the app for it. My current carrier is tmobile.

Hi, i just purchased the 16gb white tab s the other day and so far i absolutely love it it does nearly everything i need/want it to. my only problem is i enjoy drawing every now and then and im having trouble doing this on the tab s. i have a jot pro and this seems to scratch the screen (i have a screen protector on but i still don't like that it does this. i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good stylus and app? i had an iPad and loved the palm recognition but the tab s doesn't seem to have this im at a loss and little devastated that im having so much trouble doing something that is usually simple to me. if someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

I only have gmail setup on the tablet. So I don't know if there's some setting for email retention when setting up or even after it is setup. Hopefully, someone will be along with the answer.

OK So that worked At last something works :(

Decided on a Samsung Tab S 10. 5 this time I do need a 128 storage to buy a new Ipad with that I cannot afford

So far not happy at all Nothing works as it should as on my Ipad

Let's start with Vudu I have bought many movies on Vudu and downloaded many on my Ipad.

On my Samsung Tab S I cannot even watch trailers "you need flash" that will not be accepted by the Android system

Eventually I got dolphin my Now I can watch trailers But none of my films I have bought And not at all any way they will let me download them

This is so dissapointed I might just buy a new Ipad 128 Gb model to get some peace for a time,

Sorry for bad writing that SwiftKey app is still no friend of mine

I don't think there is anything the iPad can do that the Tab can't. While Adobe doesn't officially support flash on Android anymore, you can still find it here to download and install.

Archived Flash Player versions

You can easily get get a 64GB card for $27 and less. There are some on sale right now at BB.

Samsung 64GB microSD Class 10 UHS1 Memory Card Multi MB-MP64DABBY - Best Buy

128GB cards are available, but presently more than double this, which I will not pay. In any case, if you need help ask here or search some of the other forums. This tablet is a much better buy and more capable than the iPad.

Forgot to mention, I use this with the Tab,

Mini MicroSD Card Reader by Meenova

Thus I keep on 64GB card internal, and have a few others that I connect via the card reader as needed. Thus I have endless storage capability.

I receive my emails on my Outlook inbox account but soon after reading them, they automatically delete from the inbox, can you help?

Go to email settings, you can select how many you want to stay loaded. I have mine set to 75. They do eventually fall off, but will reload if you swipe up on the screen.

Just tried the app swipe on the 'these are the apps that are running' window. I should have tried it before, but confirmed that swiping down gets rid of an app, too. A bit easier than swiping up?

I have a new S 10.5 LTE from T-Mobile. I have had it for ten days, and I have already used 11gb of the 16gb of the memory. I don't know how I did this because I only installed a few apps that I had on my Nexus 7 (2013). I have moved all the apps that I can to the SD card. What else can I do to ensure that I don't run out of memory during the first month?

I have a samsung galaxy tab s. It will not connect to 4g automatically after being connected to a wifi network and leaving the wifi area into a 4g network area. I have to turn off the device and turn it back on in order for it to connect to 4g. I have had the sim card replaced, done a master reset and replaced the device. It still is the same issue.

Hi SAM marked1,

When I go onto my facebook, all videos that I watch on facebook (even hd videos) are blurry. Is there a certain setting on facebook I need to change on my tablet to fix the problem? Videos on netfliX or YouTube are fine.
Please if you could let me know.

Thanks.

Kind regards.

Try Bamboo Paper in the Play Store...Amazon has a great selection of stylus, also.
