HELP HTC ONE or GALAXY S4?!

Like i thought from posts on these forums,so that must mean every last one built has some kind of defect and every S4 is perfect and the the poster who say there is something wrong with there S4 are crazy.

I can't believe there's people actually denying the fact that there are quality issues with the build of the htc one. Ever heard of Google? Try searching "htc one overheating", "htc one capacitive buttons", "htc one speaker crackling". Any of those. You'll see what you come up with. Its not just an isolated problem. Not just people from this forum. I am in no way saying that every s4 is perfect either. The s4 has their issues as well. But the amount of problems with the quality of the build on the one is just unacceptable. And just because some of you one owners out there don't want to acknowledge it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I've witnessed these issues first hand and I know for a fact I am not the only one.

My point is proven right here. People don't want to admit when there's a problem. Easy to just say ya it does this BUT I just do this to correct it. Well you shouldn't have to uninstall and install different apps to try and get your phone not to get too hot. And you're right it does have a capacitive home button. I am talking about so many different phones sometimes my facts get a little mixed up. It doesn't have a menu button. And not the already widely accepted three button layout. They could have not put the little htc symbol and put a physical home button and menu and back touch keys. But they changed it up. And to me, that doesn't make sense. Why take away even more screen by having to put a menu option there?

All apps have a menu button too...The menu button is usually in the upper right...3 little dots.

As far as the phone getting hot goes, ALL phones will get hot at some point from an app running wrong. Don't try to blame a bad app on the phone. Just don't. You're embarrasing yourself.

I'm beginning to doubt you've ever even touched a One as that's twice now you've claimed it doesn't have a certain button. The S4 ihas a capacitive menu button also, albeit in the lower right.

It doesn't have a menu button. Google it if you think it's an app. I am running the same apps on this phone and it doesn't get hot. Doubt all you want. And not every app has the three dot menu button. That's why you get the black bar. Do you even own a one? These are all vague statements you're making. Not ALL phones get that hot. I've had plenty of phones that didn't ever get hot like the one does. Its documented on several sites about the heat issue. I'm done arguing these petty semantics with you all. If you continue to disbelieve anything I'm saying just look it up. That's not so hard is it?

Yep, mine is black...I definitely own one.

Maybe Hooked on Phonics will help your comprehension skills in the future. I said all APPS have a menu and it is USUALLY in the upper right corner. When it's not, it is in the center of the black bar you are referring to. I can do anything with an app on my One that you can do on your S4. You are inferring that the S4 can do things in an app that the One is incapable of doing...That is wrong.

Yes that's what I'm inferring. You figured it all out. Funny thing is I've already stated I am no longer using an s4. So you saying that I'm inferring that the s4 can do anything that the one can't is just putting words in my mouth. You obviously didn't read my posts. Or maybe you need hooked on phonics? I'm not inferring anything. I'm saying it doesn't have a menu button. There are apps with menu buttons built into the app but that's not the phone that's the app. Wanna doubt me? Here's just one of my google accounts. Showing that I've recently used an s3, note 2, one, and the s4.

the majority has spoken stay away from the one because google says so.

Is anyone surprised what this thread has turned in to?

:banghead:

Not really. I assumed the point behind this thread was to give the original poster opinions based off of real world usage but I assumed wrong. I guess it's now about trying to prove what I've experienced wrong.

Both phones are awesome and great in their own ways. However my personal preference is the HTC One because of Sense 5. However I wish it could multitask like the Samsung could, but I can live without that because Sense 5 just rapes multitasking.

Google may not want physical menu buttons but obviously a vast majority of Android phone buyers do. I doubt very seriously if Samsung will do away with a physical menu button to please Google rather than satisfy their millions of customers. What is the benefit to Samsung to follow Google's desires on menu buttons? Samsung satisfies customers and the phones work just fine with developers who follow Google's plan and those who don't.

Wow. Samsung is Android now.

All phones have problems, please name one phone that is perfect! Please for the love of God, name one phone that does not have issues!

That's not the point of this thread. Its to talk about the htc one and the samsung galaxy s4 and their issues. I don't remember claiming there was a phone that has no issues.

Am I the only one noticing a reoccurring trend here? I say the one has heat issues. Well then ALL phones have heat issues. I name off the issues I had with the One and said if you don't believe me or think I'm the only one with the problem then look it up. Now ALL phones have issues. Of course each phone has its own issues and cons. There is no perfect phone or we would all be using it. But the one does have build quality issues that I have experienced and I am just sharing my experiences. That's it. But if you're going to argue with me about the issues then please be specific. Everyone that makes comments such as "well all phones get hot" just sounds like a fanboy. You're not really helping the op make their decision since you're not addressing the issues but rather writing them off as a problem with all phones which isn't the case.

P.S. If the one is having heat issues because of a "rogue app" then please share with us what this rogue app is. I'm sure everyone would be greatful to have this information. But isn't it funny how many people are talking about how hot the phone gets, what they all have in common? Are they all downloading and using the same app that's causing this problem? What they have in common is the phone. Maybe it's something that will be fixed with an update but for now it's a problem with some of the handsets. I'm sure not ALL of them so if you wanna roll the dice and try and get one without the issues then more power to you.

But the amount of problems with the quality of the build on the one is just unacceptable.

What is "unacceptable" and what is "acceptable"? Any specific amount of defects? What is the specific amount of actual defects of HTC One compared to GS4? Do you have official statistics? What temperature can be considered "overheating"? Please provide the specific numbers such as acceptable operating temperature range according to HTC and the temperatures that are all of the users actually experience. About capacitive touch buttons - what is the actual percentage of the users that are being affected by that?
Seriously, dude, if you would like to troll using words such as "amount" - try to provide the actual numerical data taken from an official sources.

Does HTC One have various issues? Sure it does, but so do other smartphones. Does it affect more One users than the users of other models/brands? Maybe, maybe not - you don't know. Noone knows except HTC themselves and speculating about or comparing the theoretical numbers is absolutely pointless.

Thank you someone who makes sense Not some HTC One haters who just want to down talk a phone for issues when guess what....Samsung has their own issues... Overheating being a major one son so instead of you haters out there talkin about the phones problems why not talk about what you like about them. If he gets a defective one he can change it out for a new one, be it HTC One or Samsung galaxy 4.

It gets really hot and uncomfortable to hold. All three phones I used. I'm sure it's because the phone is aluminum and it probably feels hotter. The capacitive buttons didn't always work on the three phones I used. Read plenty of threads about this problem. Do I have statistics and numbers? No. For what. I guess because I don't have official statistics that what I've experienced and talked to others about with the same problems that they just don't exist? I know what hot feels like. I know how to push a button and know when it's not responding correctly. I don't see your point. Just because I don't have official statistics that I'm not allowed to comment on my experience in a public forum where the original poster is asking for everyone's opinion? Lol. And how do you figure nobody knows about these issues except htc? So I suppose everything I've read and everyone I've talked to is full of it? You know I actually feel bad for the original poster because they're obviously not going to get one unbiased opinion on these phones. There's just too many fanboys in this forum. I guess they'll just have to take the chance and buy the phone and hope that it doesn't get really warm or that the capacitive buttons respond accurately or that all of the pieces of the phone line up flush on the body of the phone, or that the speakers don't crackle when you watch some videos on YouTube. But when they do they can come back to all of these ridiculous posts I have to put up here to defend my opinion against the fanboys.

What's funny is if you read my original post I do talk about the positives of the phone. I've just had to defend my opinion on the negatives against fanboys. They love to hear the good but sure don't wanna talk about the bad. Unless it's scientifically proven defects by an official source of course.

I don't see your point
Of course you don't - that's not why you're here. You're here to spread FUD about
the amount of problems with the quality of the build on the one is just unacceptable.
based on your own and a few other people's statistically irrelevant experiences.

If you would be here to share your subjective opinion - you would've done that, without ridiculous generalizations and exaggerations, without arguing with "fanboys" (yes, they are here, just like on every other forum section, and you won't change their opinion) and would've happily continued to use whatever other phone that gives you better experience. But you instead continue trying to engage into pointless arguments and trying to prove something to someone... Why?
