help with foxfi and xbox 360

I am trying to get my grandson hooked up so he can play his xbox 360 from the hotspot on his phone. He has a HTC rezound and we installed foxfi on it as a hotspot---his xbox 360 will find it but will not connect---the same is happening with the laptop his mother has---it finds the hotspot but will not connect---tried reloading the latest version of foxfi but that didn't fix the issue---any help would be greatly appreciated---if there is a better hotspot app that will make it work please let me know

Since the phone is not putting off an IP address the best way to use Foxfi is there it USB tether.
I use an LG Optimus n usb tether n have no problems with my Laptop but i have yet to try it on my xbox.
