My wife was getting into her car, then, suddenly, she dropped her Bionic... it was truly sad to see that shattered screen. I will NOT post pictures, you don't want my nightmares!

it was... just... I can't even talk anymore about it! Thank God and Jesus (and big baby Jesus, Budah, not so much Alah, he likes the iPhone, and Black Jesus) that mine was unharmed.

Hug your Bionics tight, you never know what moment will be their last!

Was it in a case? I've dropped mine tons of times without a case without shattering the screen. It's VERY hard to do it, but it's very sad when it happens. Not like an iPhone...I have several friends with shattered iPhones from "just dropping it," yet not too many with recent Android phones with shattered screens (or really in bad condition at all).

Aw, come on and post the images. They can't be as bad as an Apple device dropped from the same height.

bummer! I dropped mine getting out of my truck the other day--and it fell into lava rock! No case--because the reason it fell was I'd absent-mindedly taken it out of the car dock and placed it into the holster without first placing it back into the shell. Therefore, it slipped right through the bottom of the holster, hit concrete, the back popped off, and my heart stopped as I watched my Bionic bounce from the concrete into nearby lava rock that is at the edge of my neighbor's yard. I picked up my phone expecting to see damage. Nada. Whew!!

Lava rock would be terrible, that stuff is sharp lol. I've mainly dropped mine on concrete a few times. I was a little scared when I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain a few days ago and went on "Roaring Rapids." Let's just say that I didn't get off the ride very dry. Luckily for me, I put the phone in my left side velcro pocket, and there was a Japanese man who was sitting next to me on that side (who was freaking out too, didn't even speak English lol), so that covered it pretty well. I pulled it out and amazingly it was as dry as when I put it in. All my other pockets were not...my ticket to get into the park was destroyed and my lanyard for my keys were soaked. I think my shirt took most of the damage. So here's a good idea...don't go on a water ride with a $600 phone lol.

Here's the picture. Mommas.... Hide your kids!

The glass is tapped over so she can still use it but we will replace it come next paycheck. I am shopping for a case for my xoom now for impact reasons.

No. It was not in a case. It was naked and extended battery, thus increasing impact inertia.

Replacing the phone or just the glass? There are tutorials on here for replacing the glass and where to get the OEM replacement. Last I looked it was only about $50.

Replacing the glass is real easy.... When I broke mine I got one off Ebay for like 30$ then did a search on YouTube on how to replace.. I did mine in like 15 -20 min..

Yes, replacing the glass is definitely the way to go. It's a pain to do and requires patience, but it's definitely worth it!

EDIT: I should add, that I say it's a pain to do because I've only done it on phones with keyboards (Samsung Moment and Droid 2 Global). I'm sure that increases the PITA factor.
