[HERO ROM] Sneak Peek Working Donut on CDMA Hero

No,YEs,Yes,Yes

Work on this will pick up soon. I've got some kernel changes to finalize, A final version of Gumbo 1.5 ROM to finish then focus shifts to this full time.

What I need is input. What do YOU want to see in a Dount build.
Apps2SD?
UI tweaks?
Custom statusbar?
Sense UI?

Let me hear it. Also will be looking for a partner that is fairly handy with graphics editing, can use the cmd line and not afraid to get their phone stuck in a boot loop. Goal is to turn this into Gumbo 1.6.

No Apps2SD; Yes--UI tweaks; Yes--Custom statusbar; Yes--Sense UI

Hope this helps.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes

All I want is a working 1.6 or 2.X build. Everything else is just personal-taste "fluff".

It may be a bit of a pain to developers but a modular system is probably the best way to make everyone happy. Start with vanilla and give the people an easy way add what they want. If someone complains about the extra work of adding things in, they shouldn't be fiddling with their phone. ;)

Exchange

I am not seeing and Exchange option during email setup. Does this version of Donut support Exchange?

Exchange support is not in Donut. You can download apps from the Market to add Exchange support such as Moxier or Roadsync. Exchange support that is in the Sprint Hero ROM is an add-on from HTC and is part of Sense.

Actually the big pain is in the support. The goal of the project is making it very user friendly. Hard to write a set of instructions that everyone can understand. Adding more to the mix makes it even harder.

Can you share with how you did that ?

4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download HTCKB.zip
There's 2 apk's in that zip file. Push them both to /system/app and choose the touch input method in settings.

If people don't understand how to flash more than one file, they shouldn't be messing with their phone. ;)

i know I keep asking and asking, but any news on bluetooth?

thats all I need now. I just use that on a daily basis

Just a preview of what I'm up to currently :)

Android 1.6 AOSP, all working but bluetooth. Includes Google Nav, lot's of other goodies from Droid, Nexus and MotoBlur

Would it be possible to add multi-touch capabilities onto this rom???
kinda like the 1.6 Roms on the htc dream that have multi-touch

I can see that. However, I'm not sure you can get it any easier with this OS. Load the zip files you want, boot into recovery, install. It's *almost* idiot proof but there's always people out there who will try to prove that wrong.

I like the approach you took with the 1.5 releases. It's not vanilla but it's not loaded either. I'm very happy with your 1.5b ROM so if you take the same approach to 1.6, I'd have nothing to complain about.

Has anyone figured out a workaround for the SMS issue some people have been having or is just random?

Random, some people mentioned some methods that resolved the SMS problem but they dont work for everyone.

Im waiting to jump over to 1.6 (I have the SMS problem) but Gumbo 1.5c will be my daily for now.

alright so I would really like to load your rom but haven't been able to find a download link... If you could send me a download link that would be cool.

Thanks

I'm sorry please do ignore my noob questions, after flipping through the pages of the post and looking a little harder I found the links.... downloading now.

Okay, so I loaded the rom and I have a legit question this time ( I think) is the last step (with command prompt) necessary? I am using a mac and don't know how I can run those commands... any help would be appreciated... by the way, haven't used the rom yet, but so far looks amazing.
