Hisense Sero 7 Pro - Unboxing pictures (no video)

Believe it or not, even the vaunted Google Nexus 7 will not load every app in Google Play. Try "WebMD" if you don't believe me, it says "not compatible with your device"

It showed WebMD as compatible with the Sero Pro when I pulled it up in the Play Store <shrug>

Well I just picked up the Sero 7 Pro yesterday at my local Wal-Mart for $149 plus I got the Extended Warranty that Wal-Mart offers. As I opened it and took my first glance at the device it is pretty nice. The Screen resolution is really clear and the colors are vibrant. The Tegra 3 Processor is very quick. I have no problems uninstalling apps at all. The only one I cannot uninstall is the Vudu App, but that's ok, I don't even notice it. So far, I have not had any problems with it at all. It charges fairly quickly and seems to hold a charge pretty well.

I own Android Devices (HTC Evo 4G LTE), iOS devices (iPad 2), Windows 8 devices (Lenovo Yoga 13 inch) and this product. I have a lot of experience with all these devices and the Sero 7 Pro is a worthy competitor.

The build quality seems pretty good but one thing I have noticed is that the microSD card cover does not stay closed all the time. For example if I put the device in landscape mode the cover opens a little. I try pressing it in a little firmer but that doesn't work either. I'm just being a little picky about that and since I read it one someone else's post I thought I should agree with them.

Like most tablets the screen does pick up a lot of smudges.

The camera works great in well lit situations but not in low light areas. There are a lot of different filters that you can apply to the pictures to make them unique and I do like that.

Jelly Bean 4.2.1 runs very smoothly and the notifications is a nice touch. It seems very concise and to the point I get the information when I need it and I don't have to search for it. I am thinking about Rooting it as well. I will do some more research on that a little later after I have used this for about a week.

Hope this can help you out in deciding whether you should buy it or not.

Does anyone know where to find some worthy cases or covers for the Hisense Sero 7 Pro?

Both the Walmart and the Hisense web sites say it is version 4.2... strange!
not that I would know the difference, I have never used a android device for more than a few minutes

I've been waiting for something like this to come out. It has all the options one would need. Bought mine three days ago and have not experienced any of the issues others have, except smudges... Just ordered a case from here. Leather Case for Hisense Sero 7 Pro Android Tablet by i-Blason. Top notch tablet, especially for the money. GPS is really fast. I saved some maps to use in offline mode and have used this to navigate on a few service calls with no problems. Thing I'm going to buy a car mount to use as primary GPS.

I stopped by my WalMart at lunchtime just in case, and there were a bunch of the $99 one on the shelf and an empty spot where the Pro goes. The nice salesperson walking by said that trucks come every night so there might be some as soon as tomorrow. Hmmm.... to buy one of these, or a Nexus 7 32GB off eBay for about $170...??

I picked up one of these Friday. It was smooth, played videos well and did everything I expected from $150 tablet. It was a pleasure to use. However, it is going back to Wally World today. I found that the touch screen was acting up only when plugged into AC power. It registers touches on other parts of the screen randomly. Video is below.

Hisense Sero Pro touchscreen problem - YouTube

I may have gotten a lemon of the bunch, but after using it a few days I realized I really don't need a tablet even one as inexpensive as this. Coupled with the out of box defect, it's gotta go back.

Any other similar touchscreen issues?

Sorry, it's their official app, WebMD for Android

For some weird reason my SD card cover doesn't "seat" properly either. Oh well, we know the Nexus 7 doesn't have that problem! l'll make you a bet, go pick up the new Nexus MeMo Pad 172v. It's the new lowered priced Nexus 7" tablet, It has 32 GB installed for $149 with an SD slot for another 32gb! However, I promise you will throw rocks at it compared to this Hisense...but the build quality is great.

Walmart has to do a better job of promoting it. The Sales Associate in electronics didn't know anything about it. I had to find one locked in a case below the Nooks. About the only tablet the Sales staff is halfway up on is Apple.

Just went by my local walmart and they dont have it. Last night when I checked online, I could get it through the walmart website with pickup in store. Today, the website states that it is available in limited markets and mine isn't one. Guess I didn't need to spend money on a new toy. :(

Any idea what store locations besides CA sell these?

Went to my local Wal-Mart store here in Florida hoping to find the pro model, but struck out. All they had was a few of the $99 model. I am so anxious to get my hands on the pro model!!! So far the reviews and comments I have read are overwhelmingly positive.

Touch points in wrong place when charging.

Mine did that when I used my SIII charger and cable.
Switched back to the Hisense charger and cable, and the problem went away.
