So what will video look like with an aspect ratio of 2:1? I have an iPad Air 2 and I love it and it looks great for surfing the web and reading books on it is awesome but video doesn't look so hot. Those giant black bars are a huge turn off. I mostly use my tablets for video consumption so I'm wondering if I should look into this Pixel C. I really dig the way it looks!

This doesn't look like the best device for that purpose (neither is the iPad). The original Tab S is still the best tablet ever created for video consumption IMO.
You're probably right but the "giant black bars" are personally not that much of a turn off for me. Just a compromise that needs to be made.
The two major things I use my tablet for our (1) consuming media and (2) reading books such as from Kindle. For the former, a 16:9 aspect ratio is best (e.g. watching FHD, 1920x1080 movies), while for the latter, a 4:3 or even 3:2 aspect ratio is better, mimicking a paper page that I am more used to reading. So whatever the aspect ratio is, for me, it is a compromise between the two most often things I will do with it.
Actually, that does lead to another interesting question. What will you be doing with your Pixel C tablet (or any tablet, for that matter)?
For me, mimicking what I do with my tablet now), it is probably:
+ 25% Watching movies and television shows from various sources such as Hulu and Amazon Plus
+ 25% Reading books and magazines
+ 20% Reading emails (which I do at least as much on my smartphone, although I probably respond more from my tablet and definitely respond most often from one of my computers)
+ 15% listening to audiobooks (which I also do just as often with my smartphone)
+ 15% accessing my other Android apps that I also access on my smartphone
If I were to break it down like that it would be 60% video, 25% surfing the web and 15% reading books. I guess I should look into another tablet or just learn to ignore those black bars. My tablet is pretty much for YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and Vudu. Now that Vudu finally supports HD/HDX on Android I want a new Android tablet. Guess I should wait on some reviews.

I was really hoping that this would be a tablet running Chrome OS with Android Play Store capabilities. It looks like an amazing Android tablet, I was really just hoping for more.

I wish Google gave the weight and UK price. These two unknowns are making it extremely difficult to know whether I should return my Air 2 128GB in favour of Pixel C 64GB.
I have exactly 7 days left to make a decision...

Does everyone remember that they promised updates every 6 weeks on this? They indicated that it was "similar" to the Chrome OS update cycle for Chromebook Pixels (and all other Chromebooks) but that's a pretty silly comparison - there actually ARE Chrome updates every 6 weeks. The fact that they are advertising the same on the Pixel C, along with the attempts at multitasking we know Google was working on in the 6.0 preview suggests to me that Google fully intends for this device to be a productivity tool, probably getting productivity features from the Pixel team that won't be fully rolled out to other Android tablets for a bit (maybe not until Android N?).
That would also line up with the leaks suggesting that they are rolling Chrome OS into Android and might show off an initial version of that at I/O this year. So the Pixel C could be the device that is their practice ground for souping up Android N to be able to handle laptop and PC form factors better.
I don't know if any of that's true (I know exactly 1 person who has worked at Google ever, and he hasn't worked there in some time), but given the announcements and the hint that "we will hear plenty more as the holiday season approaches" I do wonder if this won't end up being a much more exciting project than it would be just running stock Marshmallow.

Same here! N9 serves as laptop when I am out and about, N6 gets "docked" at the office with a bluetooth full size Logitec keyboard including integrated touch pad, Chromecast to my large moniter, and a Kingston Mobile Lite for mass storage and peripherals (and wired connection as needed).
The Android OS holds up as a computing platform in my experience. I work in IT and use Andoid daily as my "desktop".... and honestly, I do need to run programs in windows and Linux. I just RDP from my N9 or enlarged N6 to whatever OS I need and it is a dream to multitask between that OS and Android apps (not everyone has that luxury tho, I do have no shortage of VM's to remote into... But if you have a decent desktop and VM Ware workstation one can do the same).
Really, what it comes down to is EVERY windows laptop I have ever owned eventually broke.... Whereas EVERY Nexus device I have ever owned continued to work until I made a decision to upgrade. That speaks volumes for my use case, as it is literally a 100% fail/success record respectivley. I need constant speed, stability, connectivity, and productivity. Android provides it, after some peripherals and the aforementioned brief learning curve.
Pixel C will fit perfectly into my use case for mobile productivity! Will miss N9 but the floppy keyboard drives me crazy.
You and I have opposite experiences since I have a graveyard of Nexus 7's (three of them), one dead Nexus 10, a dead Nexus 4, a Nexus 5 that's almost two years old but is on its last leg.
Meanwhile, I have three working Windows laptops, the oldest of which is 10 years old, the newest which is over 3 years old. I keep wanting to buy a new laptop, but I'm constantly reminded that my 3 year old laptop still works flawlessly and is still fast enough for what I need it for since it has a Core i3 and a 256 GB SSD.
The 10 year old laptop I keep around just for giggles, since it's funny to see how underpowered the onboard VGA graphics were on it. You can barely stream 240p video on it. The single-core processor is surprisingly capable though, it runs Windows 8.1 like a champ.

I hear ya there! Been waiting for what seems like eons! Are you going back to Android full bore from iOS or just dabbling in both?Just tell me when I can buy the Pixel C, before I use my money to buy something else....These dollars are burning a hole in my pants...

Google could get me back full bore but it would probably take a Pixel Phone. I am happy with my iPhone 6s Plus for now. The iPhone and Apple TV are the only iOS products I also own a Nexus 7, Nexus 9, Samsung Chromebook, Chromebook Pixel LTE, and 2 Android TV's.

I gotcha. The 6P is probably making me stick with Android. And I think you may get your wish within the next year or so...
I want a Pixel C so I can amortize all the USB C cables I bought for my Nexus 5X, foolishly thinking it would have the same bad battery life as my old Moto X.
My new Nexus 6P is making me want pure android for all my mobile devices. My Note 10.1 2014 Edition seemed speedy until I got the N6P!

Yeah, I find it to be odd that they haven't said a word since the end of September. We're going on almost two months and nothing. I've all but decided to move on to Apple. If this came out RIGHT NOW, I may change my mind. But I'm tired of hearing crickets.
Yeah, like, where the heck is this thing?!?!?!?!? I guess it was really only half baked when they announced it? I hope this interim time is going to yield some enhancement they didn't announce at the event (nearly 2 months ago I might add)
Bold prediction....December 2ND launch (due to the upcoming holiday).
Edit: changed it to the 2nd AND THAT IS MY FINAL PREDICTION! (11-19-15)
