my phone goes to message bank within 4 rings and I want to extend the ring time.

Ringing in the US (it varies by country) is 5 seconds per ring cycle. The switchover to voicemail is usually set by time. So figure out the number of rings you want, and how long that is. Then call your carrier and ask them if they can change the number of rings before voicemail for you. If they tell you it's by time, you'll have that too.

Depending on the carrier (the VM system they're using, actually) it may be user-settable in the menu. Call it and listen for something like "other options". See if there's something there.
