How is Nougat so far?

I just did an update, cleared APN and Cache and then reboot. Can't comment on battery life because it's still fresh but if it was anything like today, I'm happy with it. I usually leave work with close to 30% with minimal usage. Just terrible service here I bounce between 1x and 3G.

Today I had to use the hotspot for some quick emails and after the end of the day with 1 hour of hot spot usage, I left work with 38%.

Good so far. I updated today (enrolled in beta, and got the OTA). Battery life is far better than M in the 8 hours I've used N for (relative to how M would've done). Of course, this isn't enough data, so we'll have to see how it fares long term. I like the multi-window feature, and doze on the go (at least in theory). This really feels like a minor update, and should've been 6.1 (sorta like the change from ICS 4.0.x to JB 4.1). I'm kind of curious why Allo, Google Assistant, and the new launcher weren't released with N, which would've made it feel like a major update to what it is now. I get the new Nexus devices are due soon, but this is definitely different than past years.

So, for some reason the update failed. It downloaded, started installing, and then it failed (little android guy on his back with a warning triangle over his exposed bowels...haha).

I rebooted it and it came back up but in MM. I tried unenrolling it but Google won't let me do that either. I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Also, newbie question: How do I clear the cache? Booting into recovery (Down volume+power) the Recovery option is red and I can't seem to get into it.

My phone is not dozing at all. Been off charger for 5 hours and have 28 minutes of screen time and only 77% battery left.

Android OS Keep awake up over 2 hour 45 minutes

My note 7 gets more than that. 😆

Update worked the 2nd time around. Would still like to know how to clear the system cache but I can probably find that on here somewhere...

Would still like to know how to clear the system cache
1. Power off device
2. Boot into Bootloader (Volume Down + Power)
3. Select Recovery mode
4. Press-and-hold Power, then press and release Volume Up and release Power
5. Select wipe cache

A software update is only useful if you use the new features... I'm one of those of happens to use some of the N features, so it's great for me. Love the quick settings (one less swipe to turn on airplane mode etc.), the "alt tab feature is also great (I never realized how much I switch between apps). I also love being able to keep playing a YouTube video (dual window) while browsing another app. It's also nice go be able to reply to emails within the notification bar.
If an objective way to Guage an update is by the amount of keystrokes / swipes it saves, then N is in arguably a great update.

Downloaded and immediately did a factory reset and started fresh. Couple bugs I have noticed so far is that Bluetooth was dropping off every 10 min or so on my Garmin watch (could be the watch on N, not the phone), and 5-6 times in the standard messages app, I either could not receive an MMS, nor send them for 4-5 min. It would just hang. If it does it tomorrow, I will switch to Textra to check it out.

Positive things; I really like the quick settings when you slide the top down just a hair. When in settings within a sub-setting, you can slide in from the left and get back to the main settings. Going to recent apps drops the current app way down and almost exposes the entire last app for preview.

I am enjoying it overall!

They got rid of the vibrate during call option. Very annoying having the phone buzz for everything while talking on the phone.

After you get the droid with the red triangle (down volume+power), you then press power and tap up volume, I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

So far, so good. Super smooth, battery life is noticeably improved. No problems downloading OTA or installing. Feels more polished than M.

12 hours into it I totally agree. Doze is working much more aggressively. I'm averaging about 2% per hour which under MM was about 3%-3.5%. Soon battery anxiety will be a thing of the past (especially as compared to the Note 5 I ditched in favor of the 6P).

Did you update through beta or just through the regular OTA?

Sorry, I know this is kinda of topic so this'll be my last post on this here about it: I did this and all I get is the image with the warning triangle and the phrase "No Command'.

Not impressed with battery life or Doze.
Android OS is still having a ridiculous drain. More power consumed than on screen time.
I'm not complaining about battery life - but when they advertise a feature like doze and there is evidence that it is not kicking in, then there is a problem

As one of the detectives in Dragnet used to say, 'Just the facts Ma'am'. I took the phone off the charger (fully charged) at 11 pm last night and it laid untouched until 7 am (8 hours for the math majors) during which time it dropped 4% - seems reasonable to me. Screenshots show what transpired during that time.

My only point is that if you're having issues you may need to do some investigation to determine what's causing the problem, rather than just saying that some feature or other sucks.

At a minimum you should wipe the system cache (in Recovery mode) and the apps Cached data (in Settings -> Storage). Booting into Safe Mode (and running the untouched doze test) will also help point a finger at whether 3rd party apps are the root cause.

These are two great tools (there's a free version of the first one) to help figure out what is going on, particularly WRT apps which may be keeping the phone from sleeping. You have to put in a little effort to get the most out of these tools (there's an ADB command that needs to be run for the first; a Chrome extension for the second) but it'll pay off in your understanding of what's going on and in better battery life. YMMV.

I had the same issue after I tried the beta OTA move. Phone rebooted back into 6.0.1 and wasn't really sure what to do after that. When I would check for update, it would tell me system was up to date, but VERY quickly when first going into the system update screen I could see it flash the "download and install" screen. So I did try going back to the beta program site and it DID let me unenroll. once I did that, then I just clicked the "enroll" option again and agreed to the terms. Unlike the first time, the OTA didn't pop up immediately.......I think it was probably within 15 minutes or so the 2nd time around. It still went through the "download" process again even though I had already downloaded it the initial time (though it seemed slightly faster the 2nd time), and on the 2nd try with the install it seemed to work just fine.
