How Long Is HTC Going To Keep Early Upgraders Hanging?

Plenty of evidence? Just because endgadget provides a link and not Sprint/HTC themselves doesn't mean it's official. They said themselves it's NOT official. Why are you even questioning it?

The download was available on HTC's site are you serious? Sprint's own website had 7/30 as the update date. I spoke to 3 tech support reps from Sprint and a few from HTC and they ALL said that the update was available. They said it wasn't official HOURS after it was released.

BOOM!!

Your copy/paste doesn't say anything about downloading from a link, only OTA, which wasn't available last Friday.

I didnt want to waste any more time debating but since you wanted me to read your post so bad here you go.. Unfortunately, pwnst_r already took the words out of my mouth.. Thanks for proving our point... It said nothing about downloading via a link... It stated OTA and you couldnt download OTA on friday as he stated above... So that proves exactly what?? lol

Whats the number on the end of that .3 o thats right. The file that was download was .3 so why would someone not think its official.

Hey guess what? Modding and whatnot is what Android was made for.

Kthxbai.

But I think peoples point is if you mod and you mess up don't be upset because you took the risk and did it... If you mess up live with it and we wont have anything to say... HTC said they are working on a fix so be patient and wait because you not being able to update is your doing...

Looks like everyone who applied the .3 update is causing HTC some headache's so much so that they have to publicly and politely vent their frustration.

RT @htc A small reminder that when official SW updates are ready, HTC or your carrier will notify you. Unofficial software can create future issues

NOT AN OFFICIAL UPDATE

If you who installed an unofficial update on EVO last week, we working on a simple, effortless solution. Please bear with us a bit longer. <====From twitter 45 mins ago.

Also, A small reminder that when official SW updates are ready, HTC or your carrier will notify you. Unofficial software can create future issues. <===From HTC's twitter 2 minutes ago. Guess we gotta wait a lil longer. I won't bother going to a sprint store. That's bananas!! They have a fix in the works....

Dude - if the issue doesn't affect you, why don't you stfu and quit posting in this thread?! Nobody gives a sh!t about what you have to say here.

WHAT issue? I updated on Friday and am not crying about this "delay". Have a good cry.

Cut it out Jerzey, you're lying about what you knew. If you go back to the thread from Friday, you were posting pretty heavily. *After* the Sprint reps told you that the release was going to be available, they *then* told you that it was delayed. You even posted a recording of that phone call.

You posted the link to the Sprint support page. I personally pointed out to you that the page included instructions for installing the update, and those instructions were to manually check for an OTA update. Nowhere was there any indication given that the update would be anything other than OTA.

Then, you got your hands on the rom that someone linked. You asked around for a while wondering if it was official, so you were clearly dubious. Some random forum poster says "official" and you apparently take their word for it. You try to install it.

You can't get the install to happen. You post an error.

Then, you post a twitter entry from HTC stating that any 2.2 roms floating around are not official. You clearly know that the rom isn't official, but you decided to proceed anyway. You subsequently post continued errors trying to install it, but gosh, you kept working to cram it in there even though you knew at this time that it wasn't official.

Now, you're posting in this thread claiming to believe that you're just an innocent customer who didn't know better. Stop lying. You knew that you were doing something you shouldn't, but you figured you'd get away with it. The risk failed, and now you think that it's HTC's responsibility to fix it for you. What a joke. HTC owes you nothing.

DAMN!! Someone got OWNED!!!!

And where am I saying "I told you so"?

What I'm saying is for people to stop crying about not getting the OTA because they decided to go the unofficial route.

Such a name caller you are.

OK, kids, no need to get so heated. By the time I saw about the update being available, the updates warning against using it were already out, so I and many others made an informed decision to take the risk in order to scratch our Froyo itch. I watched people post for a half-hour about their experiences before jumping in myself. Other than initial battery life sadness, it's been fairly bloodless. Considering the complicated steps needed to install the leaked file, acting as if users were poor helpless victims caught in the HTC-Sprint crosssfire is stupid. We knew what we were doing. Acting as if HTC and Sprint owe us an instant fix for what we did to ourselves is childish.

Anyhoo, in case no one bothered to see the tweet linked a page back, here is what HTC had to say an hour ago:

I hope the coders know their language better than the tweeter knows his. Unless Drunk Hulk is handling their PR.

Let's try and stay on topic here.

This makes it sounds like there is a fix, but it's a little complicated atm. I'm thinking it'll be out very soon for everyone to download. Although it may not have been official, it was on their website because it was meant to be shared, period. Unnofficial or not, the .3 version should have been enabled to recieve the next available version. (From a technical standpoint)

Thats all im saying, at least this person will say I did it so now ill wait not a big deal... No problem with that at all in my eyes... Its when u start complaining this is all HTC's fault and they need to fix this right now which isnt appropriate seeing as how you did it.. To stay on topic im sure they are working on it and will release a fix as soon as possible..

Thats right, you should be lucky they are even trying to fix it. Thats the exact reason why I didn't install the leaked version.
