[How To] [Discussion] Improve Battery Life

I totally would get one just for the sake of rooting/flashing/bricking, but I don't have the money. Lol. And I don't want to put windows back on my Mac because it screws it up. So idk, man.

But do you think this is all I really can do? Just root, de-bloat and de-bing?
How do you move Apps to your SD card when rooted?

I use one battery with 2.9.2 w/SD and heavy use and have great battery life. Last night 15 hours off charge and still 25% left.

I am doing better now that I have 2.9.2.

What is your setup? What kernel? Voodoo/non voodoo??

The new nv ComaVolt kernel has doubled my battery life. Only thing I have found that works for me so far. Also, running sc2.9.2 and have been fighting this battery for awhile. Hopefully it remains good on this new kernel.

Where do you get it and what does it do/how does it work?

non voodoo, running 2.9.2 Superdark. Have work email push, stock email. 2.9.2 is EC10 Kernel I think. Super Fast and always using Pandora in the car. Battery life rocks!

I use auto for the screen and I do not use auto sync contacts, unless I add someone new. Only my work Calendar is Synced, my Google calendar is off. All vibrates and sounds off, so no screen feedback, key feedback or keyboard feedback. No vibrate on work push email, but vibrate for everything else, GTalk, sms, calls, gmail and youmail.

Turned the vibrate to 3/4. rings sound at 3/4. No main ring, just contacts ring.

I hope that helps. This is just some small stuff I do, but it saves a little battery.

I'm also using Comavolt. Battery Left widget is saying I now have an estimated 36 hours of battery life, whereas I've been getting about 12 hours (reported and actual) with moderate use. Maybe the widget is finally calibrated? Yes, I always wipe battery stats when I charge to 100%, but never seen this kind of reporting.

I'm also running SetCPU profiles:

Screen off: 200-400mhz
Charger: 200-1000
<70%: 200-800

The beautiful thing about the latest Comavolt is that he added something to let you charge non-OEM batteries in the phone. Before, if you tried to plug the phone in, it would give you some sort of error and just not charge, if you were using non-OEM batteries.

This is probably my favorite kernel.

No need to wipe battery stats every time you charge to 100%. The only time you need to wipe again is after flashing a new kernel, or a ROM which includes a kernel (which all of them do now.)

Bearly, Whenever I drop my cpu rate below 800 my phone freezes up. This seems to be a problem of a great deal of fascinate users. How did you manage to drop it down to 400 without it freezing when you turn the screen back on?

Also, I have had serious battery problems with battery life in 2.9.2 as well, both on my phone and my wife's. I did all the recommended steps and still no go. The only way we can get good battery life is to turn both wifi and GPS off. Then it lasts fine all day. I wonder, does the gps run every minute or two if enabled and if so why? Also, is there a place where we can have our wifi only check once every 15 minutes or so?

Just wanted to give a big thank you to gunnermike and landshark for their contributions in this thread. followed some of their advice in this thread, and for the first time since rooting, i made it through a full day without having to charge! Hopefully it continues. Thanks guys.

You're welcome. Gunner did a great job putting this thread together.

Ok so I realize while browsing the internet on Dolphin HD is were my battery gets chewed up like crazy. Does everyone have this problem with this browser?? R there better battery saver browsers?? My battery goes down like 1% a minute while browsing. Which kills me while on the forums. Anyone have suggestions. Thanks, besides tapatalk or whatever that is, thanks. Maybe i will have to get that if that makes a huge difference.

I use Miren browser. great for downloading and browsing. Haven't logged exact battery power it drains, but nowhere near 1% per minute.

Dolphin normally isn't like that either. Might be something with your display settings such as brightness that's killing it so fast.

yah just calibrated the battery yesterday so hopefully within next cpl days it shapes up. But it has always been that way. Im gonna give this kernel a real shot at helping the full 3 days which I never do. LOL :D brightness I keep way down. I do love dolphin...
