[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

I don't have a solution for the ANDROID_ never-ending boot issue, but I have found an anomaly. I used the same process as my roommate when he set up his NC, but while my device gave me the issue, I put the same SD card into his device and it booted right up.

So it would appear that it isn't my SD, which I was going to replace with a higher class.

I'm salivating for a solution to this.

Next thing

Hello,

So, I tried to redo the imaging.

Putt in the SD card in my laptop again and (maybe this is as it should be) it tells me the SD card is not formatted although it was before I redid the imaging.

Tried after burning the image again and still the same thing "android_" blinkblinkblinkblink ......

Now, I tried to redo a 3rd time and wanted to use the win32imgae writer. This tells me however that there is not enough space on the SD card ( 8 Gb SD Card !).
Pfffffffff, now what? Is it a software version on the nook or what can be the reason....

Well, I will wait what the experts will write here.

Where can I download the latest build of honeycomb for my nook? I tried the early one and it did not work well. Also tried froyo and was not happy with it either.....Am I missing something?

Please link to the latest huild of honeycomb so I can be sure it is the same that I have.

Download nookhoney04 from the first page of this thread. I have created 3 cards with it so far using winimage plus I have been emailing instructions to fetterjohn and it has worked for him. I did have a 16gb class 4 Kingston card that was operating so slow it caused crash errors one after another. I'm presently trying to get a warranty card from kingston. But I put it on a 4gb class 4 pny and sandisc and also a class 4 8gb and it works great. I don't think it matters what version of the nook software is on the nook. It's booting from the card and doesn't see the nook program. That's the cool thing about the card, it leaves the nook untouched.

I know i had these problems initially. dont use the card reader/writer port in the PC use an external usb reader/writer. Make sure you have the lateset version of win32, (this got me for a few days). Make sure you are running win 32 as administrator.
It is only advice but maybe it will help.

Man I am confused,

I got Honeycomb up and running, but I don't know how to partition my card, and I don't know where to find the adb.exe folder.

I've been jumping between Mac OSX and Win7 trying to install the Android Market. Also trying to use EASEUS to partition my sd card. I'm using a 16gb Sandisk. Easeus isn't recognizing my card either. I've been scouring this thread and I haven't figured it out yet. If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it, meanwhile I'll continue to mess around with this.

adb.exe is in the sdk platform-tools folder as far as the card i am not sure. Are you running from an external card reader?

I tried using a topram class 6 16GB card. I did it on my Mac. Once the card was made, my mac said it could not recognize it, as did my nook. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jim

Winimage says the card is in use, or it says it is unavailable.

Working, but...

I finally got this to work using Windows 7, WinZip and Diskimage Pro. Awesome.

But
1. How do I get to use the other 12GB on my 16GB microSD card? The Storage setting says I have just 1.14 GB out of 1.25GB on the SD card, and 656MB of internal storage.
2. How do I load apps?
3. What format is the imaged card in? I still can't see it on my MacPro, and it does have fuse for NTFS.

I downloaded Nookcolor-easy ADB and installed it. But it does not see my Nook. "adb devices" returns nothing, and nothing appears in device manager.

So, I don't see how I can install the google tools mentioned in the first post. The first step dies:
C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/m
mcblk1p2 /system
error: device not found

Thgis is on a quad core i& running windows7-64-bits. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Jim

OH was that the detail I missed?

I figured I'd sleep on it and take a shot at it again today.

No I'm not using an external card reader, Is that what I need?

Once the sd card is formatted, windows will not longer recognize it in a card reader or in my Nook. That is stopping me dead.

All the sites with the drivers that work with ADB talk about rooting your Nook. I do not mind rooting the image on the HC SD card, but want to leave the one in the Nook hardware pristine. So I am confused. Is there a way to root the HC image only? If so, how?

I don't know about all built-in card readers, but Easeus worked with 2 different SanDisk SD cards on my HP Pavillion running Windows 7. I unsuccessfully tried gparted in Linux and Disk Utility in OS X without success. I used my Mac for the other steps.

Did everything and seems to be running fine. Any way to calibrate the screen? as the inputs are slightly below where i touch the screen. Also how/or can you get apps like google maps, google translate, and facebook for android installed.? can't seem to find it on market. Also any suggestions for a good video player and photo viewer? TIA/ Keep up the good works.

Does not work

The rooting commands will not work if you cannot get your machine to recognize the Nook as a proper device. I have tried two different approaches to getting the drivers to work, but nothing works.
"adb devices" returns nothing.

C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb push su /data/local
error: device not found

So how do I get the device to be recognized? Or am I supposed to be doing this with just the micro SD card in a reader?

Finally the drivers on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882751
worked, and windows now recognizes my HC Nook. Now on to rooting it. The instructions at
http://forum.androidcentral.com/bar...how-root-honeycomb-nook-color.html#post582233
work nicely for rooting.
The instructions at the start of this thread then work to install the marketplace.
I have also expanded my 4th partition with EASEUS.
SUCCESS!

But, how do I transfer files to the 4th partition? It does not mount on either Windows7 or OS X.

N

Thanks,
Jim

Got HC set up and been messing around with it for a while, but I'm never used an android device before and have a few questions.

1. I have root explorer installed, but every time i try to launch it it says it "has not yet managed to obtain root access" and something about Superuser. Any help?

2. I have some music on stored on the Nook Color internal storage, but the HC music player cant see it. Is it possible to store files on the nook and access it? Seems like its would just be wasted space then.

3. It doesnt appear to lag that much to me, but when changing the screen orientation, it takes a good 3-4 seconds. I have it running on a Adata 8gb class 6, would a better brand or a class 10 card help?

Thanks.
