[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

computer seeing device

If you are on a windows computer ... open device manager and see if you have an android listing. When i INSTALLED EASYADB windows loaded the wrong driver . I had a nook icon in device manager with a yellow ! mark I open that icon and then updated the driver by manually telling it to look in the platform-tools/drivers folder. It looked through the folder...loaded the driver... and suddenly an android composite icon appeared in device manager. After that typing adb devices it found my nook.

I am also having issues with the "device not found" on my Mac Terminal.

It works perfectly fine with my Droid but doesn't seem to locate the Nook Color when it is running honeycomb.

Anyone have any ideas?

If the market is working for you, install adbWireless. That has always worked for me, even though adb over USB does not.

Windows 7 64
I have my honeycomb installed OK.
I have my drivers installed in device manager....it says android phone now
When plugging in my nook without the sd card in the device windows sees it as a android phone and I have 2 new drives show up that appear to not be formated so windows says they are not ready
When I explore the sd card in my sd card reader I get various directories like android secure and trashes and trash-1000 and other stuff.

I am trying to install the marketplace and the instructions say to download 2 files and place them in the same directory as adb.exe then run some command line stuff. My problem is that I cannot find adb.exe on the sd card. I cannot browse the nooks 2 drives as they appear to be not formatted....should I be formatting them? Where is the adb.exe suppose to be?

Someone please straightn me out on this as I am pulling out my hair this morning and I dont have much hair left to pull..darn it all!

Thanks...I will be checking the thread every half hour or so...

Almost there :-)
I am rooted, have expanded the SD 4th partition, and gotten many apps loaded. But there are still some things missing:
1) How do I get the trash can icon on my desktop so I can delete things by dragging them to the trash?
2) How do I move files to the 4th partition (e.g., to Music)? I tried installing Dropbox and using that, but I cannot find out where Dropbox puts its files on the SD Card. I need to move them to the music folder somehow, but this is a lousy way to move the files. If I put the card in a reader, neither Windows nor OS X will recognize the 4th partition. Is there a way to make this work?
--Actually, Ubuntu sees all the partitions properly, so I can move the files there with a SD Card reader :-)
3) The Nook application crashes always if I press the left arrow when a book is open. :-(
4) Is there a tutorial somewhere on the honeycomb interface?

Thanks,
Jim

Ok I have adb installed. When I run the adb at the command prompt and try to run these commands as it says on page 1 of this thread

3. Place the files in your adb tools folder (or platform-tools on the newer version - wherever adb.exe is)

4. Open a command prompt in that folder, and issue the following commands:

adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /system

adb push Vending.apk system/app/Vending.apk

adb push GoogleServicesFramework.apk system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk

adb shell

cd system/app

chmod 6755 Vending.apk

chmod 6755 GoogleServicesFramework.apk

exit

The message I get is daemon not running.......then it says daemon started successfully.....then it says /system/bin/sh: mount: not found

I have my nook plugged into the usb. I have 2 drives that show up in windows explorer that are not formatted. Is this normal?

When doing all this adb stuff should the sd chip be in the nook and the nook plugged into the usb?

Should honeycomb be on and running when I plug the nook into the it into the usb? I assume it should not be on.

My device manager says I have a android phone...and when I click the expand on the android phone it says adb composite device....is this correct?

See I installed the nook adb drivers before I ran the easy adb.

Im lost....and about to give up for the day anyway...can someone help if they know what Im doing wrong?

Thank You

Jay

I finally got some mp3 files loaded. I can hardly hear the music with the volume all the way up (with Etymotic earphones). Is this as good as the nook can do?

And I also installed StreamFurious Pro. It does not seem to work. You press play, and the station never starts. Is there a fix/reason for this?

Thanks for the help with root explorer.

Still trying to figure out how to access files stored on the nook, not the sd card. Is this possible?

Also, changing screen orientation for me takes 3-4 seconds. Is this normal? or can it be improved with a better card (I'm running adata 8gb class 6) or by installing internally on the nook?

Thanks

Okay the only question I have now (hopefully) is how to get Easeus to recognize the partition on my card.

I'm assuming I have to put the sd card in my card reader right? I don't try to find it through the nook?

The only partition it sees is the C: drive.

Check this thread: http://forum.androidcentral.com/bar...boost-volume-internal-nook-color-speaker.html

It made quite a difference for me. If you don't have an existing also.conf file, just upload the one shown and it should work.
