[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

I know this may seem like a dumb question but I burned the image onto my SD card and Liked honeycomb on the nook so much that I decided to get a real honeycomb tablet. Problem is I cant figure out how to delete the image or whatever from my memory card. I deleted all the files on it thinking that would work but it still says I have 115mb free out of 121mb on an 8gb SD card. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the SD card from you Nook Color. Turn on your NC, once is fully loaded. insert your sd card. Go to setting and format the SD card.

You have my TOTAL sympathy!

I keep getting an error message when I go to load the nookhoney04 to the disk. I have tried several cards and three different computers. Help please....my wife is driving me nuts

I'm still too scared to try it!

ok...its seems there is no help on here in reference to the WinImage problems. Can anyone give me some direction to go get help with WinImage? Thanks

I believe you have to open WinImage as "admin" to get it to work.

See page 3 of this thread - reply by monkeysuncle.

thanks but that is not the problem.....I have tried new image.....deleting all these files and reloading them. I even went and purchased a new SD card just in case that could be a problem. When I attempt to burn the image to disk, the % block opens, but an ERROR block opens at the same time.

Hi Will: I am getting really desperate! I downloaded honeycomb on my NC, and it seems to run fine. I got the adb (easy) up and running, but my PC does not recognize any device at all. Under drivers I do find two Barnes&Nobles drivers in Device Manager, but that is it. So I got no ADB Interface or anything else listed. When I issue adb devices in command prompt, I get all the normal stuff except of course what should be mentioned below list of devices attached. I downloaded the two apk files and put them in the platform- tools folder, but once I enter the necessary commands, I get the message, no device found. What shall I do? Without the android market it is all just half the fun. PLEASE HELP ME! Thanks!
I find myself in the same boat! Yuck!!!:( I have spent countless hours/days trying different suggestions on different machines and I cannot get the PC to recognize the Nook Color booted into Honeycomb.

I have run Easy ADB, and other scripts and nothing shows when i run "adb devices". I learned alot but I am so confused and really bummed out!:confused:

I need some clear, detail directions on how to get this working- my system is XP SP3. I am a noob with SDK/ADB/JAVA and have been with Android only a few weeks. Help!!
thanks in advance!

P.S. a big question - to get the market place loaded , must Ihave the Nook rooted?? Because itis not rooted. I did not think it was necessary to root if iwas running Honeycomb off the SD card. Am Imistaken??

1. Make sure you format the card after the error message as it still tries to write and makes card only 117mb. I too was getting this and my card only showed 117MB avail, but it was an 8gb card. You have to format fully to get your 4gb/8gb avail.

2. Make sure you are using the winimage downloaded from the OP here. I tried from another link and continued to get error. When I used the link from page 1, it worked.

I even did a right click run as admin when installing winimage, which caused both a regular icon and admin icon on my desktop. Then used the admin to boot.

i cant find any of these files on the sd card. Where do i find this??? Do i have to be rooted?? So confused.

They are not on SD card.

If you installed the sdk file and java development file correctly, that path will be on your C: drive on your computer.

The need to install sdk and java is not listed in steps in OP, but I found the link somewhere in this post (first 50 pages I believe). Thought I had the bookmark saved, but I don't.

Hi, I am not tech-savy (huge understatement) but I was able to do the first part--putting the image on my SD card, getting it to boot-up on the Nook. What I haven't been able to do is the 2nd part, to add the Android Market. I am not clear if this is something that gets done on my PC, then pushed to the Nook, done on the PC and downloaded somehow to the SD card, or if it is done directly through honeycomb once it is bootedon the Nook.

By chance, is anyone able to explain this in the "add android market for dummies" format??

Well, I managed to totally wipe my computer HD.

Gone.

Poof.

At least I was smart enough to have all the important stuff on a thumb. :(

HC installed on SD card, used my Macbook. ADB WILL NOT recognize my nook. I have tried several different methods on both PC and Mac and nothing. This sacred NookColor_USB_ADB tutorial does not help at all. I have rooted/ROM'd many Android phones in my day but have never dealt with such a pain in the neck! I'm regretting buying this NC since using it as a tablet is next to impossible for me :'(

error: device not found

Grrrrr!!!

So does having a class 10 SD card vs. a class 4 make a huge difference?

I currently have it working on an 8GB class 4 card. It is kind of choppy, which is expected due to not actually being a tablet, but was wondering if a higher class card made much difference?

adb - honeycomb nook is recognized, but pull /system/build.prop isn't working

I'm trying to reconfigure my NC w/Honeycomb so it appears as a Xoom to the Marketplace, but as I'm trying to run the "adb pull /system/build.prop" data all it does is spit out a line with a seemingly random file size and the seconds it took to get that info (I assume). As a result, I can't edit the necessary line to change the device's fingerprint.

When I run "adb devices" it shows up.

when I run "adb reboot" my NC reboots.

So all indications are that my PC recognizes the NC and can send commands to it. What is wrong? I have spent literally 4-5 hours researching this and I can't find anything posted anywhere of this happening. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and was able to use ADB in the past to gain access to more Marketplace apps.

Specifically, I'm trying to follow the Xoom instructions here:
Honeycomb Google Apps and Market - nookDevs

Please help!

After I install honeycomb onto the sd card my nook color boots into honeycomb perfectly. then when I try to install market, everything seems to install fine. ADB sees my nook and everything goes okay. When the nook reboots it just stay on the screen where android is small in on the bottom and never boots up. Any clue?
