How to Fix: Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped

That pop up was very annoying, I have faced the same problem after a try to get my phone rooted (it was rooted but unfortunately, the pop up appears). I have tried this method just before I think about factory reset. I have fixed the problem by connecting my Galaxy Note 3 (SCL22) Android 4.3 via a USB cable with windows computer using galaxy kies software. After opening galaxy kies and put my mobile switched on and connected to the pc with galaxy provided USB cable (it is important to use the USB cable come with the device). It took several attempt connecting the phone, but at last it recognized and connected. After being connected, click on the 'Tool' button and then click Automatic upgrade to latest firmware. If you click 'upgrade to latest firmware', you need to provide all information (serial number, etc) of your device manually. Wait for a while, do not touch you mobile or disconnect from the pc. After boot, restart your phone and connect again. After that you will get rid of that annoying pop up and will upgrade your phone to 4.4.2 kitkat.

Trying @Student6000's fix after updating to Paranoid Android's 4.5 BETA 1 of KitKat and encountering the android.process.media error. Seems to have worked, so here's another THANK YOU to this poster. Of course would have been nice for this error not to present in the first place. I wonder what triggered it, since this ROM update only addresses a few things and none of them were stated to be "Contacts" related. Maybe a bug fix? Oh well, at any rate the fix worked and I'm happy with that. :D

How to Fix: Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped

This worked for me.
Go to Settings - All Apps - Media Storage - Disable (if enabled) - Force Close - Enable.
If Enabled, then Disable - Force Close and Enable again.
Reboot Phone.
You should be good to go.
Hope it works for you too!

This worked for me. Thanks a lot.

you rock! 3 days of searching, trying different cures...no phone, playing hopscotch with the blinking notice, and then there was you!i was minutes away from surrendering to factory reset...

Thank you!! Any idea what causes this? I just got the samsung galaxy s4 3 days ago, and this suddenly popped up tonight. Thank you again for the easy solution!!

Dear Brother
I was getting acore error, that is also fixes by your trick, thanx and regards....
i am very happy now.
Jazak Allah Khair

This totally didn't help, after reset, restart, make few phone calls, it appear to happen the same again.

Thank you, that helped that problem. However, around the same time this happened my SD card started saying it was "blank" or "had unsupported" and then I couldn't read the rest and when I click on that it asks me to Format SD card? and if I choose to it will wipe my card out. In my pictures I only have pics from July back to Dec 2013 when I got the phone (ZTE Majesty for straight talk). Its Oct but I don't have any pics from July on :( Very frustrating. I have Security app on my phone so I don't know if something got through like a virus or what. What can I do?

Is there any other way of doing this without losing my contacts? This problem occurs almost once a week and is really aggravating, I've deleted my contacts and both my Google accounts for the quick fix; but within hours or even days the popup comes back. The only way I can think of fixing it would be to just have my phone become contactless cause my contacts have not synced with google servers since October 30th. and everytime I try to force a sync with the servers ( To get my lost contacts back) the popup returns.
