after this the program crashes. The dos script says "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." and I get a pop-up that says LG-Utils has stopped working....I have tried everything, suggestions???

I need some help. I played around with rooting my phone and installed the VC007 Rom and it ended up bricking my phone. But I was able to use the un-brick method to fix it.

I have the Drellisdee installed, but I think I've lost root access somewhere along the way. So I was going to try to root it again. When I get to the step to fire up the shell, it shows a #, but it says the system/bin/mount is not found.

If I download a root checker from the market, it says I'm not rooted. But it does say Busybox is installed

Please help

Does the LG Mobile Updater work by itself without invoking from KP500?

If not, I would try uninstalling that + the drivers, then reinstalling both.

If that doesn't work, I would try a different PC.

If you have #, then you have root, in the sense that you have root privileges to do more things. Whether you have root installed so that other programs can use it (which is what the root checker is checking), is related but different than having root so you can install stuff.

From one of my previous posts:
We use "root" in two slightly different senses.

You have "root" the login id (and associated permissions) designated by the "#" prompt in shell, let's call this root login. It is referring to a login status, not an ability, and thus is implicitly temporary. With "root" login id/permissions, you can always install the 2nd sense of root below.

The 2nd way we refer to root, is the "capability" of on-demand changing of login-id/permissions to root within Android and linux. Some people refer to this a permanent root. Rather than referring to the "login" id, we are referring to the capability of obtaining that login id whenever we want.

As I mentioned in your other post, your problem is not related to root. Either the path you entered for mount is typed in incorrectly or the partition containing /system/bin isn't mounted.

What is this DOS script referenced in the error. I don't remember running a DOS script to invoke KP500.

Off the top of my head, the only other thing I can think of is some form of permission problem. The KP500 front-end appears to be able to invoke the LG updater tool and the Updater tool appears to communicate with your phone.

I think he means the DOS prompt. Obviously there is no "script" (as in a batch script).

Finally got it to work. Just restarted the LG update software before running kp500 and ran on a windows 7 32 bit instead of 64...thanks!!

My phone is only a month old and it came installed with ZVC. So I followed the directions but can't get it to root. I have tried this 4 times with the same results. The first thing that goes wrong is that I can't run the chmod. rageagainstthecage does run, but the phone never reconnects. Here is the log:

Rage won't work on the VC recovery. You need to revert to V9 first. See my signature.

Phone came with software version above ZV9 = You have the OTA update.
OTA update = You need to revert to V9 first.

No problem! My bad, actually. The guide didn't specifically give instructions that pertained to phones that came with ZVC or ZVD (mainly because I was lazy and figured people would assume preinstalled equals OTA - WRONG!) but it's updated now.

So in reality, thank you for falling prey to my assumptions
