How to recover missing storage space (Moto G)?

Hi guys, I'm new here and I hope someone can help me.

So I have a Moto G with Android 4.4.4 and I'm having a weird issues in which my phone is showing me less storage space than I should have.

If I go to the storage options inside the settings Menu it show:

Total Storage: 12.92GB
Available Storage: 2.45 GB

Yet combining all the other categories I should only be using something like 3GB of storage. I should have around 10gb of free space and not only 2.45.

What could the issues be? 12.92 isn't a whole lot of space to begin and it just sucks having less than half of that available

IDK where all of it is but the OS will take some space itself...there may be a bit more that I have no clue why it would be missing

The OS can take 4-5GB and if you look in Misc, you'll see all sorts of data being stored, using up space.

Hi.

But isn't the OS already the reason behind my 16gb device only having 12gb of storage? Shouldn't those 12gb be actual storage?.

What's really weird is that if I connect my device to my PC and selec every folder (including the hidden ones) it only shows that I'm using about 3gb of space when, according to the free space I have, I should be using like 8.

What's also weird is that I downloaded a storage management App and it shows that I should have around 10gb of free storage:


But if I open the "partition" option is shows 2,54gb Free


Any Idea what this could be
