[How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD, using KP500 (Diag mode)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I have applied vd and have screen display (YES!) but comes to android system recovery <3e> with an error Finding update package...

E: can't find command file CACHE: recovery/command
Installation aborted. no valid image in cache.
I wouldn't worry about that. Just pretend you never saw that error and follow whatever directions you are up to in the guide you are following.

I think you should be using GingerBreak or GingerSnap to root ZVD, but I don't know exactly where you are. After that, follow the ZVH rooting directions.

alright HELP!
i have an optimus s and it got the ls670mvh update to gingerbread. obviously this update has issues and i am trying to figure out how to rollback to vc or vd. well i have so using the kp500 tool and i have a blank screen. with vd i see the lg logo, with vc i see nothing. the phone goes into recovery when booted though per adb (adb devices) i cannot see the recovery screen and screencaster does not work. it is not rooted. any idea how to fix this??

What step are did you complete and were there any errors?

Can you boot into recovery?

Can you boot into Android?

i was on stock zvh and tried to downgrade, i was not rooted, i was just trying to downgrade to 2.2 (i work for a repair center) and just looking for a way to get around the 2.3 issues. after i downgraded to v9/vc/vd i had a black screen. i have tried flashing all of them and i cant boot with a screen to anything. i get lg logo with vd. adb says it is in recovery. i was getting just the boot up screen that says android with vc i believe but it would sit on android (screen was black, screencaster showed the android boot screen. it boots to recovery but i have no way of using it, except adb

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Let me explain what is happening and it will be clearer.

You have the new LCD, so V9 Recovery and V9 Android, while they will both "work" on your phone will show nothing on the display. In this state, you could actually unlock the phone, make phone calls, etc., you just would see nothing on your screen. This is normal and expected if you have the new LCD (though obviously undesirable from a usability standpoint) You are not "bricked", just display-challenged.

At some point, you probably put the V9 Recovery on your phone, so when you boot into Recovery the screen will be blank, but recovery is still functional in that you can connect to it using adb shell and also you could use the volume and menu buttons to select recovery options, just with no visual feedback.

When you put VC or VD on the phone, it likely booted into Android, but after so many upgrades and downgrades, /data was getting confused and couldn't get everything rebuilt, so you were stuck and the "Android" logo. This is still not a bad situation, you are not bricked. The way to get around this is to boot into Recovery and perform a "wipe data/factory reset", but you will think this is difficult to do because you can't see anything on your screen.

I put together this page so you could more easily do a "wipe data/factory reset" from within V9 recovery with a new LCD.
Factory reset from Stock Recovery

So what you want to do is
1) make sure you have flashed the VD cab file, do it again if you are not sure
2) try to boot into Android and see if it works
3) if not, boot into recovery and do a "wipe data/factory reset" using the instructions above

Please do not skip any steps. If something is not clear ask questions.

As to why screencaster doesn't work, you must have screencaster started when your phone is booted into Android or it won't display the Recovery screens when you boot into Recovery. Since you can't boot into Android you can't start screencaster in the proper fashion.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

When you are done with getting an Android you can boot into, you can place the VD stock recovery on the phone and then Recovery will be visible also.

i appreciate it. all i needed was to wipe the data blind. it booted just fine. i read somewhere in these forums that ac is a lot more 'mannered' than xda. i agree with that. thanks for all your help!

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I am seeing the "android" logo for about 20 minutes now after following this using VD alternate, I followed this guide, so I guess my question is, how long might it take after rolling back from ZVH
I am not sure if it will be detrimental if I pull the battery or what, so it will sit this way I guess for a while longer, hope I hear thoughts on the longest wait etc or if I can pull batt and see if it boots etc.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

thanks sfhub got it working, was just hoping not to have to start from scratch, I think I will drop a CM7 rom on my wifes phone now since she has like 50MB of space after restore, moved a bunch to SD and deleted crud with titanium but man the stock rom blows. :-)

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

i need help for some reason i cant get past this a3fe36f575beceef1519c16d0d7d848e.png
First, are you sure you want to revert to V9 rather than VD? From your posts on the other threads, it seems like you want to end up with ZVH rooted, in which case you'll have an easier time reverting to ZVD.

The most likely reason the "ren" rename is failing is because that file isn't there, either not in the directory or you downloaded a different file.

If you look in the reference section, there will be substitutions to use if you are reverting to ZVD. Don't just use the default V9 instructions.

You are on the wrong thread then. Use this thread if you mistakenly already installed the ZVH update.

The thread you should be looking at is the Rooting ZVH thread in my signature.

Sounds like you disconnected the usb cable before the update complete message appeared. Around 98% complete the phone should reboot and then it should continue doing some updates to android, if you unplug before it does this 2nd wave of updates you will get constant FC errors.

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I left it plugged in until it said complete and asked for an email address for updates

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

Hrmmm that is odd. I've only seen that when the cable gets unplugged after the android boot screen appears but before the "update complete" msg appears on your computer monitor. Have you tried re doing the flash via the K500 tool?

Re: [How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD,

I will do my best to help any way I can, but to be honest I am new to this. I wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't for the great guides and help from sfhub. What is the end goal that you are trying to achieve? ZVH with root?
