[How to] Root Samsung Infuse **5/19/11**[Windows & Mac]Now with GingerSnap!!

I need help. I tried both ways. The Gingersnap runs for 1 second and says phone will reboot but nothing happens. The second method returns a response with the model number but says offline. I rebooted prior but it not help. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

pull the phones battery and reboot your computer

Thanks again for your help. Reboot didn"t help. I swapped the cable and moved to the port on the back and it worked like a charm. Should have remembered to use the back port

ah yeah that will do it , Great job, congrats :D

How do you know when Ginger Snap is finished? It's been about 5 mins and the message still says "Stealing the ginger's soul"

Can you put up mirrors for Infuse_root.zip and start_unroot.zip please? The current links generate 404 errors.

Can someone explain the unroot a little better? When it says to put the file in the folder used to root the phone does that just mean to stick it in the gingersnap folder, for example? Haven't rooted yet, just want to make sure i understand how to unroot in case by some miracle the Galaxy S II is announced before my 30 days are up.

Very helpful. Thanks! Couldn't get the adb shell to root with GingerBreak for me so the one click was awesome :)

Sorry, this is my first time using an android. Will rooting my Infuse prevent me from receiving OTA updates?

Also my first time using android, but from what i've read the only thing that will prevent the receiving of OTA updates is deleting some of the included files and programs. That's why it's recommended to either rename or freeze any apps you don't want, that way it can be reversed when updates come about.
