Freaking sweet, yeap just copy kool-aid zip onto sdcard not in any file.Reboot recovery, choose wipe, then wipe data, dalvik. Then press back when done wipeing then choose flash zip from sdcard then select kool-aid, let it do it thing when its complete select reboot system now wait for it to boot. You will now be running a custom rom.

Noobie here. Using fresh kitchen to root stock 1.5, have a few questions. I was rooted saw the status at the bottom, got to the reboot screen did nandroid back up. Fresh kitchen show not rooted now? do i need to flash recovery to become permeantly rooted (looks like you can't flash this)? Not sure how you stay rooted.
Thanks.

Just wanted to thank gbhill for this tutorial. Was about to ditch my Sprint Hero, because I was sick of waiting for the delayed updates. Now I feel like I have a brand new phone. Been running 2.1 option 4 for better than a week and it's been flawless. Everything has improved, from responsivness, to battery life.

Thanks again! Keep up the good work!

Question

Okay i got all the files downloaded and have not opened or done anything yet.First off how do i create a file above the hard drive.Im using windows xp..
[HOW-TO] Change status bar clock color - xda-developers

Google is your friend. Now stop cluttering my thread lol.

First, let's prepare a workspace on your PC. My suggestion is to create a folder in the top level of your hard drive so it's easy to get to from the command line. C:\Android_stuff is much easier to remember than C:\users\gbhil\documents\tools\devices\Android\stuff. I use my workspace for backups, wallpapers, ROMs, and tools as well as the SDK. Simply make a separate folder inside your workspace for each. Click the image below to enlarge it and see how I have my Android_stuff folder set up.

Just open up My Computer, then double click the C drive. Create a folder there called Android Stuff. Place the SDK in there (unzipped)

Okay on folder that i doubled click on c drive twice. It says android_stuffandroid-sdk-windowstool ,that is what i named it..Now what i have in there is asroot2 android sdk file unzipped, and recovery ra-heroc unzipped.

When i open my command prompt and put it cd C:\Android_stuff\android-sdk-windows\tools and hit enter its says file path not found.

Im such a idiot.sorry for all the questions..

Are the drivers installed?
also, every time there is a "\" means theres a folder
So:
c:\android_stuff\android-sdk-windows\tools
is
in the C: drive (your hard drive where windows is installed), there is a folder called android stuff, in there there is another folder called android-sdk-windows and in there is a folder called tools. The last two are created for you after you download the sdk

Well i guess i wont ever figure it out. Thanks for you help.

I had the same problem... Are you using windows 7? No matter what I typed I would not navigate to the correct folder. I have used dos before, and if I typed "dir" I could see the folder, but not open in. So instead of following the directions about folders exactly i extracted things into simpler folders. I made c:\android and c:\androidsdk and was able to move on from there.

I could be wrong, but doesn't windows 7 use abbreviations if the folder has a lengthy name? So if it was c:\androidasdfkialjfl all you would need to type is C:\andro~ or something like that. You should be able to see it when you type dir though.

stuck

Hello Im stuck at "$ /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh
