[How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and OTA works too!)

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

Ok, I'm running into a few problems, probably self-inflicted, but any guidance would be appreciated...

I unzipped the exploit contents into its own directory, and ran adb from there.

I copied the necessary files over to the tmp directory and chmodded to 777, no problems. I let the Gingerbreak app run for about 10 minutes, never got root. So, I attempted to mount the file system, and got an "operation not permitted" error.

Any ideas what I'm missing or leaving out?

TIA

Sounds like you never mounted write on it.
I would suggest starting from beginning and see how it goes.

9) Mount the /system partition read-write
Quote:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /system /system
10) Change to the /data/local/tmp directory
Quote:
cd /data/local/tmp
11) Copy su and busybox to /system/bin
Quote:
cat su > /system/bin/su
cat busybox > /system/bin/busybox
cat Superuser.apk > /data/app/Superuser.apk
12) Set correct permissions on su and busybox
Quote:
chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox
13) Exit the shell
Quote:
exit
exit

When I try this method it just hangs and the gingersnap doesn't work at all.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

The rooting process completed successfully.
I then installed Titanium Back up (Free version). It asked for Root permissions.
So, am pretty sure that I rooted successfully.
However, I am unable to uninstall the Sprint bloatware using Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.

How do I uninstall the bloatware apps?
Thank you!

System apps are not uninstallable visit normal means. Use Titanium Backup.

I have tried several times to get this to work. It does appear as if everything does work. After exit and exit I restart the phone and open cmd prompt and go to tools directory then adb shell and su.
Its sits there bilnking for several seconds and then says permission denied. I followed every single command precisely. Any ideas. I have 2 of the phones NIB tried it on both

Just to make sure.. You have the LG drivers install? PATH set correct? SDK,JDK etc.. installed? the correct .zip for the root process? I did this check a 100 times to make sure I was set... I rebooted the phone before I started as stated and I did every line like OP says and I was rooted in like what seems mins. If you can't find the drivers let me know and I can PM you the link. Hope this helps

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

It is possibly a driver issue anything is possible. It quite often is a driver issue. I am using the drivers which are downloaded through the LG Mobile Support Tool. Both SDK and JDK is installed. I downloaded the Zip from post #1. The path is correct. What drivers should be used I thought I had the right ones.
