[How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and OTA works too!)

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

why isn't this thread in the "Sprint Optimus guide to Rooting, ROMs, Recoveries & Themes" sticky?

It was, it was replaced with the ZVH rooting thread.

I think it deserves to be there (with the same logic the ZVD roms should be taken out as well). But let's face it, ZVH update is full of bugs and I don't think it's worth the trouble. I mean, what's the advantage of having it anyways? Coming back to zvd for the second time, I now hope that devs (drew, ath3nos et al.) will continue the development of CM7 on zvd radio. I am back to reborn now and it feels faster than the gROM at 748 (and I am confident that my gmail will sync and the screen will not go crazy). Not to mention about the battery life...

Sounds like off topic, but this rant summarizes the reasons why imo this easy method of ZVD rooting should be easily accessible and not defunct.

edit: This post is not meant to sound disrespectful to the devs working on the stock GB mainframe. I appreciate your courage and efforts on trying to clean up the mess that LG/Sprint gave us.

For your future reference, it is easily accessible from the first few lines of the ZVH rooting thread. All rooting methods for previous ROMs (ZV8, ZV9, ZVC, ZVD) are specified there.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

aloha all,
so i need some help, i figured out due to your guys help that the reason i was getting "permission denied" during step 3 for the zvh flash process is because i did not root to zvd first! now i am using gingerbreak to root my LS670ZVH to zvd and everything seems to run smooth until step 8. both commands in step 8 work for me (atleast run gingerbreak) but i dont know why it does not seem to work afterwords. what happens is this: cmd completes the process basically as soon as i type it (with the last line being: vold: 1380 GOT start: 0x00014354 GOT end: 0x00014394) i have no way of really knowing if it completed the process in full, because from what i read it should take several minutes but mine finishes in several seconds?? then after that process, the cursor is left blank (meaning with no symbol in front of it) and anything i type like any of the following steps just seem to repeat exactly what i typed in. so steps 9 - 13 just repeats whatever i typed in. This also happens in steps 3-7 but seems to work because in step 4 i can push the data over and i can run gingerbreak in step 8. i do not know why it is not working after step 8, my phone seems to be normal and nothing happens even at step 13 when i type exit? any help is greatly appreciate!!

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

Starting from Step 9 all of the commands I type copy themselves. Did I do something wrong?

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

+ A few million to the OP. Thanks, Drew!

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

It doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? I downloaded everything and then when I open the app to root, it takes just a few seconds, then it says my phone has been rooted, but nothing happens. No reboot, no warning, still the same.

I used gingersnap... if you have windows 7 its a snap, no pun intended, the tricky part is to plug in your fun click on usb debugging then click on it again to enable i have no clue why this works but i guess windows just doesn't like android.... but the only thing you have to download is the driver software for the phone and gingersnap, of course.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

Ok I am running and running threw all these steps over and over again and none of them are working,I have the optimus S with android firmware of 2.3.3 I would like to root my phone but nothing is working, little help please??

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

How long is a "few minutes" for step 9 (./gingerbreak)? I have given it almost 25-30 min and I still dont get the # prompt back. All drivers were installed, and I can get through steps 1 - 8 easily.

I also don't have a SD card in the phone. Is that required for the rooting process?

I am having the same problem. The last thing I get back is: "[*] cold: 0065 GOT start: 0x000142a8 GOT end: 0x000142e8". After an hour of no activity I had to use <ctrl><break> to exit.

Am I missing something? Thanks for any help as I am out of ideas to try.

At the top of the rooting section is an automated root method i would recommend. It says it is for zvh, but will also root zvd basebands. Kinda takes all the guess work out of it.

Thank you for the suggestion. Worked like a charm. Never thought to use it since it said zvh.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and

this thread is about rooting your phone (and is actually also somewhat obsolete). For questions regarding adobe flash player please go to this thread.
