[How To] Unroot and return to stock [RUU Method]

one question. How do I do the s-ON. Mine shows s-OFF, as i would like to switch to s-ON so I can get my phone serviced at sprint store (for random reboot issue).

I tried to 36IMG (something like that), but it did not work.

Please help.

When I try this I get "error 120 low main battery", my battery is fully charged. Please assist

I was rooted with "unrevoked" could not get it to unroot using the unrevoked recovery method.

I recently purchased a Sprint HTC EVO 4G off ebay. It stated at the time that it was rooted. Can't get it set-up with sprint because of this. Have done everything according to your directions and get to step 9 and get an error message 120 less than 30% battery life. I have checked the battery and it is at 95%. I even changed it out with the battery from my wife's EVO 4G and it give me the same error. Any help you can give me would be great. I have also tried to fast boot it by holding down the volume key and the power key and nothing comes up on the screen.

Excellent instructions and was able to unroot the phone. I was under the impression that the HTC Sync would backup and restore but found out that there was no restore on HTC Sync. So find a good backup/restore package.

I tried to unroot and flash the stock rom PCIMG36 i believe and my phone gets stuck on the white htc screen. I backed up my phone before doing so with Revolutionary and also with ROM manager. Only thing is I cant get to step to restore.

Since i wasnt able to flash back to stock, I flashed a Sprint User Rom, but that is like 3 updates behind and won't update. I need to either flash a 4.53.651.1 rom or unroot to apply update. Using revolutionary method i can root again because i did it on my friends phone so thats not a problem. Need some help please.

Hi, I changed the charging por on my Evo 4G and now it charges but will not connect to the pc. Because of this I am unable to use the RUU method. I have a stock Evo 4G stuck on splash screen. Trying to reflash stock. Is there any way to do it from sd card?

Genius, this worked perfectly. Though, if I'm understanding correctly, does this mean the phone can no longer be rooted?

Hi! I am stuck on Step 8 with the error screen. I have tried this approximately 8-10 times. My phone is asking if I should turn the USB storage on or not? I have no idea what I am doing, as I bought the phone off of Ebay. Can you help me please?

I can't get s-on. I try using the unrevoked s-on.zip but I can not get into recovery.I get a red exclamation inside a red triangle. I can't try flashing anything without recovery.

Hoping I can get some help, got an Evo 4G from craigslist and I cant activate it until i get rid of this cyangen mod and all this other crap. Downloaded htc sync and the RUU but when RUU starts running and says rebooting to bootloader and the phone goes to the black HTC screen, it looses connectivity to the computer every time and it will say waiting for bootloader with numbers in parenthesis counting up to about 80~ before i get an error 171 every time.
